"The more you talk about it, the more you think about it, the farther from it you go. Stop talking, stop thinking about it, and there is nothing you will not understand." - Anonymous
We live in the world where almost everyone is swayed by different opinions, and each uphold theirs in high esteem and wouldn't let any contrary opinion sway it. We all want to feel right in our own rights. We mostly try to hold on to our desire to always be right.
I may not necessarily agree with what you say, or your opinion of it, but i will defend your right to say it.
We all have our rights to have an opinion, to cling unto it, if most of the times, it has worked for us, but we should be open nonetheless to others. No one has the monopoly of knowledge.
Often times, it is laziness that makes us not willing to learn and listen to opinion of others. We sometimes don't want a distorted view of what we have been comfortable with knowing. We don't want to exercise our brain, or exercise the power of our choice, to decide. Most people would rather leave an issue that "stresses" their brain, and block out everything else. Being open to other opinion is key, you all have rights to have it, and no one is more "right" than the other, it just depends on the value you placed on your own views.
Life has a way of naturally distorting our view, sometimes, which often leave us reeling and sometimes throw us off balance, that is why most times, we try so hard to understand it, but couldn't get a handle of it. Life and situations, sometimes have a way of humbling us, and our opinions really doesn't matter at that point. We can only speak from our own experiences, or from others, which we have come to know.
We all have different experiences and backgrounds, so it is natural that we will all have different ideas, and opinions. Our experience is our own reality. What we have been exposed to overtime, has a way of leaving an impression on us, and carving out an opinion that we cling unto.
A man that has been used to his girlfriend cheating on him, the slight moment he tries her number at a certain time, and she isn't picking or her phone got turned off, that thoughts creep in (even if he trusts her). He will be left now, with the power of choice, deciding between what he has been used to, or being calm, and listen to whatever reason she might have, or the opinion she might air. Combining both together give room for better decision making.
Often times we have misplaced opinions, due to not having deeper understanding about a situation. We have all been there, not judging a situation appropriately, due to lack of patience, inadequate information, or sentiments. How we come to accept we are wrong, goes a long way to show how matured we are, instead of clinging on to our desire to be right. We most of the times want to push our own words out there.
The same measure by which you dole it out to others, is the same measure it would be doled out to you.
When our thoughts have been clouded, we choose to see only what we want to see. The person might say a thing, and we will deliberately choose to hear something totally different. Most of the time, we hear other people's opinions, not to listen, but to attack or react. Be quick to listen, be slow to react. When you don't understand a certain thing, ask questions, it gives you better room to decide and judge well.
I am responsible for what i say, not what you think.
When conflict arises, when arguments spring up, when the desire to feel right and justified arises, be patient, be calm, listen to the opinion of the other person, be open minded, only by that, can you be able to judge rightly and know, whether you are right, or wrong.
Just a random thought that came to me this morning.

Our opinion is a factor of our experience and exposure. We all differ in these category. Therefore, before we judge others right or wrong based on their opinion, we have to change our position and view the subject from their perspective.
ABSOLUTELY SPOT ON.

I used to feel so justified in my opinion towards people In certain situations until I was proven wrong. Feeling always right and justified will eventually lead to dissapointment when you know the truth later.

I'm so happy you can relate with it. Indeed, what comes from the heart touches the heart.
