If you are religious, you probably would, at one point in time wondered why God created certain things. For example, on the surface, it makes no sense for disease to exist, for the snake, the scorpion or even the mosquito to have been created. Because these things cause only cause us harm. But as a believer also, it is my believe that God has a good reason for creating everything there is even if we don't see it yet. God puts certain things in our paths to serve as lessons to us, so that we may learn and perhaps we may be grateful.
As a scientist, I know that human beings are born sterile, but once a woman has being delivered of a baby, the baby is immediately exposed to thousands of bacteria in the environment. At the mention of bacteria, the first thing that probably comes to mind is disease. But while some bacteria have been implicated in the cause of some diseases, we also now know that some are actually good for our health. For example, there is a harmless bacteria called lactobacillus which colonizes the female genital tract. Its presence there prevents the invasion of other harmful organisms such as candida. But that's beside the point, my point simply is, we may not yet understand the reasons for certain things but in the end, everything matters in it's own way.
This is not limited to just things, everyone you meet on this planet has their own purpose, no one is absolutely worthless, even if they are just a means to accomplishing the greater good. They say that some people are born to make history and others to write it. But think about it, without the writers, the makers will soon be forgotten and no one would really care anyway. So never be quick to dismiss anyone's ideas, for everyone you meet knows something you don't.
Nature never makes any blunders, when she makes a fool she means it.
