I am not a person who begrudges household duties, in fact, I find most chores like dusting or mopping therapeutic. Cleaning offers me something to do with my restless hands while I binge a great podcast or blast some music. I enjoy the process and the product of keeping my home neat and clean.
However, for some reason, I can never bring myself to want to do the laundry. It piles up for weeks, multiplying to outrageous heaps by the day. I have never really figured out why it is that I loathe the chore of laundry so much. Perhaps I dislike the prolonged stretch of time it takes to accomplish laundry. It can’t just be over in one act, like vacuuming or washing the dishes. It’s dragged out over time, the sorting, the switching over from the washer to the dryer, the folding and hanging, can all take hours. It’s not even a very hard, or labor intensive chore. I just loathe it.
Agree or disagree? What’s your least favorite chore or how do you make the chores you hate more enjoyable?
Yes! It’s also the most punishing chore when left undone, alongside dishes, but at least there’s packaged food. I’ve been underwearless for a week now.
Totally agree, I don't get how people do laundry all the time. I'll wait till I got a full load, then do the laundry when I'm out of things to wear lol
I actually like doing laundry rather than washing the dishes. I find it more an easy thing to do since you'll just have to put some water and detergent on while waiting for a few minutes to pass before transferring it to the dyer. Washing machine has a timer so you wont have to look back and forth to your watch to check the time. The chore that I hate the most is washing the dishes. It's somewhat the same with doing the laundry, the only difference is your dealing with plates and other kitchen utensils. But doing dishes can be so laborious if you don't have a dishwasher.
I also like keeping my house clean, but I think I like washing dishes the least. They pile up so fast, and we don't have a dishwasher everywhere we live. So when I have to wash them by hands I'm not happy. I listen to audiobooks sometimes to make it less boring, that helps.
I don't like doing any household chores in general. But my mom would kick my ass off if I wouldn't do atleast one of it everyday when I was younger. Doing the laundry just like you is what I despise the most because it's very time consuming. My favorite spot in the house is the kitchen 'coz I love to cook and bake. So you could say I like washing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen area.
Ahahha.. I can only imagine dude! My mom was also like that always nagging me to do the chores. But I like preparing the table and get to eat my mom's paella signature dish.
I know right?! I prefer to do the cooking rather than doing the laundry...hahah...
I agree with you! Doing the laundry could be so tiring and requires a lot of effort. I like cooking the most and watering the plants in the garden.
It depends. For those blessed to have a w/d in the home, it can be cathartic.
But, few things have made my day sadder, than seeing women with kids in tow, walking a basket full of clothes to the laundry mat. That's a chore.
I guess at the end of the day it's all perspective, and a reminder to always give thanks. I'm sure, even the lady with the grocery basket is grateful to have coins for the machine and clean laundry at the end of the day. After all, it doesn't take much to know that walking laundry a few blocks, beats having to hand wash everything...jmho.
And, for those who've never had to make a trip to the laundry mat, there's a reason to rejoice for the in-home w/d.
I'd be amiss to neglect mention of the ladies in some countries who walk miles to do laundry by hand at the river, daily. Now, that's a chore.
So to loathe doing laundry reminds me of the importance of gratitude to God for blessings.
Peace.
Very true. I think my hatred of the chore started back when I first moved out of my family home with no washer or dryer at a time when I did not own a vehicle and had to first scrounge for quarters that I may or may not have at the time, then walk uphill to the dilapidated laundromat do my laundry.
Thankfully, and I am truly grateful, things are different now, with my own washer and dryer in my house. And perhaps loathe is a strong word, but it is still my lest favorite chore.
lol...I totally get it...and giving thanks that things are better for you now.
Peace.
