All of life we are taught about perfect, fairytale relationships. Barbie and Ken. Princess and Prince Charming. Damsel in Distress and the Macho Hero saving the Helpless Maiden. We are taught very early that arguing is bad, communication is uncomfortable, and Mr./Ms. Right must do no wrong.
But in reality, life is not perfect. No person is perfect. No relationship is perfect. And nowadays, more and more people are lying, cheating, giving up, getting divorced, and living miserably these days in terms of relationships. Why? People no longer understand compromise, selflessness, and true loyalty. There are so many contributing factors here. All the propaganda since birth on what relationship roles are, the happy ending love stories, the hiding reality from our children to "protect" them and make everything always seem perfect to them. I know for a fact my hubby can be the biggest butthead, grouchiest grumpygills, and the most spiteful stubborn manchild I have ever seen. But I love him with all my heart. But ya know what? I can be the grumpiest of grouches, jerk of all jerks, and just as much the stubborn bullhorned girlfirend(Oh yea, im a taurus).
But he would do anything for me, and always ALWAYS puts myself and my daughter first. There is balance to everything in life, and we choose to see the negative or the silver linings. He teachers me more and more each day to embrace those silver linings. He is my rock, my superhero, my biggest fan and source of encouragement. Lifts me up more and more every day. He pushes me out of my comfort zone and helps me bravely try new and exciting things. He has expanded my mind and my intellect and is in so many ways my most unperfectly perfect spritual and romantic soulmate.
As a whole, we all need to learn more patience, compromise, open communication and selflessness... and I think the WORLD, not just relationships, would be a much, much, much, better place....
I love this man with all my heart. Relationships don't fail more nowadays and work less, they try less and give up more. I don't plan on giving up this man.
