What's Your Relationship Status?: Are You Happy With It?

What is your Relationship Status right now? Are you happy with it? In this post, I’m going to talk about my opinion on which relationship status can bring happiness. Of course, I cannot speak on behalf of all people, as some of them may have different opinions from mine, especially those who are more focused on their success in life and view relationships as obstacles.

For a long time, my daily life consisted of work, hobbies, and going out with friends to drink and party at night. This was my life for a very long time because I never liked the idea of being in a relationship for the following reasons:

• I don’t like responsibilities.
• I don’t like spending money on dates and gifts.
• I don’t like being monitored.
• I don’t like not having the freedom to decide what to do with my daily life.

My Relationship Status as a Single Person

At first, I was happy because I could do whatever I wanted without the need to tell anyone. Being free was fun, and sometimes I had hookups, but those were just one-night stands for fun.

Then, suddenly, it became lonely, and I got tired of my life, seeking meaning out of it. The whole day would pass, and no one seemed to care about my existence or how I was doing.

The usual messages I received were from my friends asking me what my plans were for the night. On days when there were no plans to go out, I would spend the day watching movies at home, alone, and eating junk food.

Being Single Made Me Lonely

This scenario lasted for a long time. I wasn’t the only single person in the group, I could see some of my friends also getting lonelier as time went by. I felt extremely alone, especially during holidays, hoping that some of my friends would have plans on that day and they wouldn’t have a date.

Then, I analyzed myself. Why didn’t I want love? Women were trying to establish a connection with me, but I always rejected them. Maybe it was because I was hurt before, and that made me rethink love and relationships. Or maybe it was because I don’t like responsibilities.

Relationships usually come with responsibilities, and I don’t like that.

Then, I realized that being single didn’t make me happy either. Maybe something was wrong with my past relationships. Maybe if I was with the right person, I would have a different view about relationships and wouldn’t see those responsibilities that come with them as a burden.

Evaluating My Past Relationships

Maybe I needed to evaluate the person first before jumping into a relationship with them.

I decided to look for a potential partner again, but this time, I used God’s standards to find the right partner for me. I didn’t use my moral compass anymore because it had already been affected by society and how I was brought up. These were the standards that I had used before that gave me unhappy relationships.

I looked for specific qualities in the woman I wanted to be my partner and prayed to God to help me. I even described to God what I wanted her to look like. Then, I met this woman who fit the idea of the woman I wanted to be my partner, not only physically but also in character. Now we are in our 5th year, and soon we will have a child.

I can say that I am happier now that my relationship status is “in a relationship”. Someone cares for me, and I can also care for someone. I believe that God wants us to have a life partner. God created Eve because he saw that Adam was lonely.

God wants Us to be in a Relationship

Genesis 2:21-24 states, “So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh;

Humans are meant to be with the opposite sex.

We just need to find the right partner in life and ask God to help us find them.
