Here's a macro shot I took today of a Green Lynx Spider (Peucetia viridans). These spiders get their name because of their lightning fast speed. They are often spotted laying in green bushes during the day, where they wait to catch their prey. The female spiders are capable of “spitting” venom in self-defense for a distance of up to a foot! Fortunately this one was male and did not see me as a threat :)
