Hurray for Music!

A brief public announcement about why music rocks! ☺ ♫

Music activates your brain all over the place and it makes different neural networks connect in ways that they wouldn't have connected otherwise. So it makes us be able to make connections between things that we wouldn't have seen connections between before… THAT makes us better problem solvers.
Music makes it so we can store and recall more information, faster. It helps the brain to understand words better and to be able to better articulate the meaning of those words.
Music helps to raise your IQ … whatever an IQ is.
It makes you do better on tests, it makes you run longer in marathons, sleep better at night. It makes you less senile - ie when you get all old and stuff… THAT’S how useful music is!

And did you know that when we listen to music our brain releases dopamine? That's the happy chemical… ♪ Happy chemical ♪ In other words, listening to music can literally make us happy… Who doesn't want that?!
Listening to music that you like, actually decreases cortisol - which is the stress chemical. And since most of us are dying from stress-related dying-ness, maybe you should go listen to some tunes
Man! Oh, and actually playing some percussion or singing along while you listen, raises your immune system. So go ahead, you rock that air guitar, baby!
It can literally alleviate depression and make us happy and help us to heal ourselves…
THAT’S how powerful music is!

Soldiers used to play music on the battlefield to psych out their enemies. We play music at our funerals. Our caretakers sing lullabies to us to get us to be at peace. The music from childhood is what ushers back the most vivid memories later in life. We dance to music, we make love to music, we sing along to music around the campfire in our cars, driving to work and in the shower when no one's listening. It's music that constantly fills the background of every movie we've ever watched…
Music reaches in to deep places inside of us. Places that we didn't even know were there until music brought them to light. Music helps us to digest the enormity of the emotional encounters that we have in this life. It helps us to get laughin’ and it helps us to get cryin’ - which we just need to do sometimes. It lifts us up. It energizes us. It stills our mind just long enough for the Divine to enter in, where it reminds us that we are ALL part of the ONE LOVE that is the creation of life… THAT’S how profound music is.

As far as I can tell, all we are is the ONE creative force that IS life … We suffer when we forget that. And there’s so much forgetting in this world of dreams… But I’ve found a few things that help me to remember: One is love, the other is laughter and then of course … MUSIC.

So long as music is alive, the beauty that is our humanity can never die … I don’t care what you say.

(And if none of that makes any sense) …
Well, I don't even need to have to make
Sense - I just have to make music! Yeah!
