The Meet Up That Brought Everyone Together!

It’s been a while since I really had fun and put my hair down at an event. So yesterday night, is definitely a night to remember! It’s just wonderful to see some of our babes from #teammalaysiababes taking the time to come and joined in the fun too! Thank you @melissawong @noriaakip @kaerpediem @jassicania @liewsc (did I miss any other babes names??) and welcome @vikapuzach to the babe's team!

@perennial and I decided that it was a no itinerary Meet Up (in conjunction with the International Women’s Day celebration) where we just play by ears and go with the flow. There will be a small talk dedicated to women (we agreed to educate women about their legal rights in domestic abuse relationship) and then complement with music. We really had no idea how many will come as it is a non RSVP event. It is a free Meet Up event where anyone can just go buy their own coffees/cakes from the café.

@bitrocker2020 welcoming everyone & updated us all on how Team Malaysia have grown so much since its inception. We are grateful for his leadership on this, definitely not an easy feat! As usual @orangila in action.

To kick off the meet up, @perennial gave a brief introduction of Steemit to the guests (because we have non Steemians in the house!) and then to honour our special guest, we invited @bitrocker2020 to say a few welcoming words.

Earlier, @calebleejl had approached me to the front to speak a word or two to represent our @teammalaysiababes, but since the evening is about showcasing the #steem-music folks talents and empowerment talk, I decided to decline (well, maybe next time!) because our two guys already gave a brief intro of what Steemit is all about and I didn’t want to drag any more time to get the party started! Lols.

What amazes me is the coming together of communities under one room last night! Although it is an event collaboration of #steem-music and #teammalaysiababes, we also have #steem-cartoon and #teammalaysia folks (we are all Team Malaysia anyways!) in the house.

The evening started with the agenda, a Women Empowerment talk by @perennial. Everyone listened to it attentively. I must say it opened a lot of eyes and mind about the legal rights of domestically abused women. The crowd had a great interactive Q & A that even the guys were so supportive! We’ve learnt about multiple legal acts that we never knew exist and its purpose and we’ve also learnt about cases where men gets abused by women. True story!

We agreed to continue this talk again at another time because there is so much to learn as we dive deep into the topic and it could take few more hours to finish!

@perennial also offers free service to women who would like to seek his advice and help in matters like this if they approach him personally. Honestly that is a generous offer, not all women would ask anyone in the open on sensitive issues like this.

Next we have @calebleejl playing his keyboard and his beautiful talented wife @silviagoh, belting out a beautiful number from a famous singer Kris Dayanti. I am amazed with @calebleejl kiddos! They were not only cute but are good babies too, well behaved and contented.

We then have few more talented singers from our #steem-music community belting out their numbers playing ukulele and guitars! And I must say the performance of @cbppls is breathtaking! He sang with great emotion and expression too. I learnt that both @calebleej and @cbppls were from my hometown, and I have never felt proud of my fellow Sabahans! So talented bah this two!

Then @perennial announced if we have anyone that would like to put up a request, I proposed Girl On Fire by Alicia Keys as the song is about empowered women too. Quickly @calebleej search for the music notes and we’ve got @jassicania to sing (I didn’t know she can sing!). She was shy at first and after much coaxing from the crowd and assuring her that we will all sing along, she agreed. And boy, did we sing along last night! From Alicia Keys to Adele!

While all these are happening, I can't help but notice this talented artist in blue tshirt who seems to be focusing on his sketching.

Shamelessly, I then requested him to draw a small me at the top corner left because I don't want to be left out. Lols. He took his pen out and free sketched me in less than 3 minutes! Thank you @choiko82!

Truly we all came together that night. It is a beautiful sight and feels heart-warming to see everyone singing their hearts out – never mind the out of tune vocals! We just want to chill and let our hair down!

We put aside differences, we allow love to come between us and just let fun take over. We actually ended the night wanting more!

Since the evening is still early, some of us eventually decided to continue our get together at the nearest 24 hours mamak in TTDI, where we further chat about language, food and movies over the Tarik halia, limau ais and roti canai!

It was a great night for most of us. This is just the beginning of a beautiful friendship and future collaborations! More to come soon! Can't wait to see @orangila beautiful photos from the event - he is at every corner and so dedicated with his photography work! Salute bro!

Oh, something that really tickles us last night is when we saw this at the bar downstairs! Only those who attended #teammalaysiababes First Meet Up & Gathering on CNY could relate to this! And this is dedicated to my brother @sireh!
