I’m new here and will say I’m guilty of upvoting my own shit half the time. I read that it’s kinda ok to do if you are new. Guess it’s kinda frowned upon though so maybe I should stop being pathetic and quit it. Lol. I do feel as though I am putting out quality posts in my specific field yet the followers just aren’t coming or are very slow to come. All I see if posts for follow for follow or sone scheme to get votes or follows. I guess it’s the slow build for me which I’m ok with if it’s actual genuine folks who are interested in what I’m posting. Just kinda bugs me seeing folks pumping pure dogshit and they are getting recognized and rewarded while others who put out killer content, get unnoticed. That’s life I guess.

Sorry for the novel. Lol

Its a powerful tool to connect with other Steemians and exchange votes, especially when starting out.

Of course on days you don't have time to look for other good posts etc it won't matter much if you just self-vote, especially during times like now where the system is making everyone turn into self-voters/vote-traders or selling votes to bid bots which all is pretty much self-voting 90-100% leaving almost no organic curation left.

We might see some changes coming soon hopefully.

I think it is pretty universal to upvote one's own posts on Steem. Self-upvoting comments seems to be frowned upon.

Attention economy is the keyword when it comes to Steem. It's perfectly fine, in my opinion, for conversation partners to reciprocally upvote each other. That's what monetization of attention means. A conversation is a tango that takes at least two to dance. You can put out quality content in a post, upvote nobody and receive a ton of upvotes. But if you're the sort that is drawn to comment section action, not upvoting anybody there is kind of lame even if you honestly thought you were the only one making quality comments.

I think there still is quite a lot of organic curation here. Most people upvote each other in their own circles which is natural and what this platform is all about. Then there are people who are early adopters with massive SP who have a more platform wide perspective and who create manual curation guilds and stuff, which is great.

I truly wonder though how sone people have the amount of followers that they do. It’s kibda baffling to be honest. Is it all just horseshit? Should I just keep doing what I’m doing and my following will slowly build? I dont mind the organic growth but it sucks seeing inferior accounts tear shit up in the circles im in. Ya know?

A lot of the 2016'ers have large numbers of followers. That's because they also have large amounts of Steem Power. People gravitate to their blogs in hopes of upvotes. Then there is a small number of superior content producers who may have started much later. Others may have been very popular on other social media before starting on Steem.

Otherwise, organic growth is the faster the better your content, the more powerful your supporters and the better you market it and the more money you spend on purchasing Steem Power.

Fantastic explanation! Thx a ton. Make a tad more sense. Didn’t even think of a few of those factors.

I forgot to mention that the passage of time alone is enough to make you rack up more followers. Slowly, though.

Changes!?!??!? Give me the inside scoop, @acidyo!!

Was just referring to HF20.

I just want to say I appreciate that you're still fighting the good fight, @acidyo. It sucks to do the right thing knowing you're losing money in the process.... but engaged stakeholders like yourself are why I believe this platform still has a chance to be great.

The parasites will stick around until their game is not profitable anymore, but the people who really believe in the platform will outlast them. At least, that is my hope.

Also... I think this image needs to be a template on decentmemes :)

I actually recognize that turn. Now I am just lost.

It's from this video:

LOL! I actually meant figuratively :-)
But holy cow that is some cool ass driving!

Quality meme.

Greed has been doing a bukkake on our faces for months on here. Feeling pretty sticky and slightly slimy on here.

The main reason for this is that people work their asses of for a good post and it gets zero attention here on Steemit.

I try to share my content on other platforms for that reason and so far Reddit is doing the trick.

I would say, keep up the hard work, it will pay of eventually.

That’s pretty much it. I know for the crowd I’m aiming For that I’m providibg kick ass content. It’s kinda stagnant. Every few articles or posts I gain like 1 follower. It’s definitely a slooooow grind but I guess if it’s actually genuinely interested folks following me it’s a good thing. Just makes me scratch my head seeing folks post in the main topics and circles I’m posting in...and I mean posting pure drivel and dogshit. No effort whatsoever and they are getting rewarded handsomely. Dems da breaks I guess.

That's funny but true.Very meaningful.

Pretty accurate!

it can make him die with his greed

Why it happened?

haha so true . sometimes we have to agree the fact . but some times I drive towards quality content too :)

Max Profit. If I needed to change my name in the future, that's something to consider.

I am really sad to see this and to realize that actually this is so true. We need to change ourselves!

A pathetic situation.

I would be very surprised if people didn't try to abuse the system, that would be worth studying even :)

So true it's sad...

The struggle is real lol

LOL. But the reality is that they share success stories who follows the trends. . If everyone become receiver then who will be giver? I think it is nice title should go in trending.

At least feel of you still working with such cool projects. Stay blessed. (EDITED)

Just needs a few choice avatars on the side of the vehicle. :D

Great use of the format.

Let's embrace the greed. I want moore, moore!

I myself aint no big curator.

But when i see quality content i upvote.

I upvote my own posts because i find them quality.

And yes i am giving minnowboosters half of my SP.

Do you know that the people running it profit from each purchase?

What purchase ?

Greed is always upon us lmao
