Yes, grammar is like perfection, everyone desires it but it is unattainable in practice unless you memorize a dictionary or dedicate yourself to linguistics.
Writing is my passion, but it is not my forte, working on my deficiencies keeps me very busy, so I always try to improve even a little bit.
The paradox is being so good at it that you end up not being understood because most people don't really dwell to much on the tiny details and resort to default informal manner of communication. I think I had a phase when I was particular about it that I ended up being a grammar nazi, never again.
