I haven't participated as much as I think I should have.
I think I started out on the wrong foot.
I was pretty bummed out about losing my job 2 weeks before Trump won the election, which only further bummed me out. Other things happened. I think I was looking for an anonymous venue where I could vent my rage and sadness when I signed up here, with a chance of earning crypto.
I'm not sure Steemit was meant for anonymity. In a past life I wasn't sure Facebook was meant for anonymity, either. I remember thinking, at one point, that all posts should be public. I remember thinking that Facebook's "privacy" settings were little more than farce.
With all of that said, let's try another "Introduce Yourself" post, one where I introduce myself in terms other than being a terrible drunk.
Hi! My name is still berksaustins, but this time I'm going to tell you more about myself. Here's another pic, where you can see me:
I work on scooters and motorcycles for a living, as a mobile repairman. Here are some pics of bikes I've raced, ridden, and put together:
'81 Suzuki GS650 that started out w/ a locked up engine. '09 Aprilia RS125 at a track day. '93 Honda Elite scooter, transporting.
I have a website that nets a decent number of local customers.
I do copy and content writing, mostly for agencies. I'm very particular about my writing clients.
I wrote a book. People buy it. Not many, but a few. It's soda pop money.
I tend to accumulate scooters, motorcycles, and parts that I sell when the weather starts to suck and people stop calling me to work on their bikes.
I work 1-2 days a week at a dirt bike shop, too.
So I built a website. Lost my job. There's just no way for me not to be bummed out about losing a job, even if I was also excited about it on some level. Got some customers. Fixed some bikes. Saved a little money. Sold some stuff. I'm in a better place now than I was a year ago, after losing that job.
I'm still fixing bikes, but it slows down A LOT when the weather turns around here. People will buy a bike in the dead of winter, but they rarely think about fixing one they already have unless it's nice outside.
Suffice it to say, I have lots of scooter/motorcycle knowledge and experience. If anyone needs help with their bike, let me know. There's a ton of content on my website, but I'm willing to do custom posts here to address specific issues. I can't guarantee I can help you fix something, the fixing part if up to you, but I can probably get you headed in the right direction if all you need is a little guidance.
