Most importantly, this post was very informative, very helpful. I believe someone could blog strictly from the discussion of up-voting, and create quite a following. There are so many tips on getting the most from an upvote, that I would do well to comprise them in a single folder.
Regarding the initial statement, I upvoted this post; it bounced from pennies to $11.34. Of course, I thought my single upvote did this; however, on noting, the voting ticker went from 4 to 71 in my single click.
I don't know if Steemit is in glitch mode; or, it was just 'coincidence.'

When you open a post to read it, you get a snapshot of the votes and rewards the post has at that time. When you actually vote, it gives you a new update. If you actually took time to read the post, that means people were voting while you were reading, but it doesn't update as you go.
In other words, that's normal behavior, especially with the prevalence of timed auto-upvoting.
