HIVESBI: A Crowdfunded Basic Income on the Hive Blockchain

What is Hive Basic Income

In the decentralized world of the Hive blockchain, a unique and impactful initiative is changing how creators and community members are rewarded for their contributions. Hive Stake Based Income (HiveSBI) (formerly referred to as Steem Basic Income) is an innovative program designed to provide a sustainable, crowdfunded basic income through a powerful, community-driven curation system. By understanding the core mechanics and purpose of HiveSBI, participants can not only earn rewards but also contribute to a more equitable and supportive ecosystem.

At its heart, HiveSBI is an account-based curation program. This means that users can sponsor other accounts, which in turn leads to them receiving regular curation rewards. The genius of this system lies in its reciprocity. When you sponsor an account, you also receive curation rewards in the form of upvotes on your own content. This creates a virtuous cycle where supporting others directly benefits you. The primary goal is to empower both new and established accounts, helping them build a steady stream of passive income that can support their continued participation on the Hive platform.

How it Works

The operational flow of HiveSBI is straightforward yet highly effective. As a member, you accrue a pending balance. This balance grows through various activities, such as sponsoring new members or receiving sponsorships yourself. Once your pending balance reaches a certain threshold, you receive an upvote on your next post from one of the program’s official curation accounts. This system ensures that rewards are delivered consistently and predictably.

Documentation

The documentation for HiveSBI serves as a comprehensive guide for anyone looking to get involved. It goes beyond a simple explanation of the mechanics, offering a wealth of resources to help members navigate the program successfully. The FAQs section addresses common questions and clarifying nuances, providing detailed guidelines on transaction memos, ensuring that all actions, such as sending Hive to sponsor new members, are executed correctly. There is also information about how to check your pending balance and what to expect regarding upvote delivery.

The Hive SBI project is a good initiative. It seems like it only upvotes long-form posts and not Threads, DBuzz, Snaps or Waves.

I acquired some units through contests last year and the previous one. Is the sponsorship for new accounts alone or is it an update on the initiative?

Please remind me of the command to check the HSBI status.

Threads, snaps, and waves use 'containers' such that none of the content is top level, and Hive SBI recognizes posts versus comments by looking only at top level. dBuzz had it's own separate issues, and is also (usually) skipped but that's not something most people are aware of.

Oh, I see. I understand better now. Thanks for the clarification.

You are added to my list. I will send the sponsorship on Monday.
Not on threads but does upvote d.buzz.
Best place to track stats is hivesbi.com

dBuzz is supposed to be skipped, actually. They had some aspects that made it problematic (rather low max rewards per post). If that has changed we can revisit the decision. I don't actively follow that project.

Thanks for the update.

Alright, thanks. Is the sponsorship giving out an upvote or giving out HSBI units?

DBuzz? I thought so too, because posting on DBuzz appears under posts on PeakD, but I only receive SBI votes on long-form posts.

Okay, thanks again.

HBI units. Dbuzz counts as a normal post so they upvote it. You must have pending vote value greater than $0.021 to receive a vote. Every HBI share refills your pending balance by some small amount per day. The HBI doc site has more information

Oh, okay, thanks. I was wondering because I posted on DBuzz yesterday but not an SBI upvote was received. My next vote estimate is around $0.118.

dBuzz is usually skipped, but sometimes the votes go through anyway.

Oh, okay. Thanks for the information.
