Le club a tweeté des photos de l’entraînement d’Al Shabab où tous les joueurs semblent heureux et enthousiastes après la création d’un couloir pour le lion marocain.
Boussoufa a été appelé à participer à la Coupe du monde 2018 avec l'équipe nationale marocaine de football. Il faisait partie de la sélection nationale marocaine, même s'il ne jouait avec aucune équipe.
Il a disputé les trois matches marocains de la Coupe du monde. Sa performance dans les trois matches était recevable.
Avant de rejoindre Al Shabab, Boussoufa a joué avec le club Al Jazira des Émirats arabes unis en 2016. Il a remporté le titre de champion en 2017 et a disputé la Coupe du monde des clubs de la FIFA 2017.
