You Are Built To Withstand

in #motivation22 hours ago

One of the hard truths about life is that challenges are not optional. In fact, they are among the inevitables of life. In various aspects of life, you may have experienced one form of challenge or the other, the same with other people. However, the thing that differentiates the strong people from the weak people is not the lack of challenges, but the ability to withstand them and still stand strong. A lot of people have even failed or cracked under pressure, yet they were able to bounce back from it. Standing strong in the face of challenges is what it means by "being built to withstand."

Your ability to withstand challenges and other circumstances, among other things, is a function of your mental resilience. To make it clear, mental resilience is the toughness from within, which keeps you going even when it looks like your physical strength is about to fail you, or when it looks like life is demanding what you cannot give, and when it seems like hope is far. Just to let you know, mental resilience does not mean denying the presence of challenges, nor pretending to be okay, nor does it mean ignoring the pain that you are going through, rather it means being able to face reality, acknowledge your struggles, and do not allow these situations to define who you are.

Being uncrackable does not mean that you have never felt like being broken. In fact, a lot of people have felt this way, rather it is by refusing to be broken by what happens to you. It means that you have trained and conditioned your mind to fight against discouragement, to reassure yourself of hope even when you may feel despair all round, and to keep going. That means, moving forward without allowing obstacles to impede you. You will be surprised that the people that you see as successful people have endured unimaginable life's circumstances and have refused to crack by them. A resilient mind can withstand whatever life throws at it. Now, one may ask how a resilient mind can be built. We shall take a look at some of them.

To build a resilient mind, you have to strengthen your mind daily with positive thoughts. Do not think defeat, do not think negativity, do not think impossibilities, rather think positively, and focus on the good things of life. Even when things are not going the way you like and when it looks like there are many challenges around, there will always be something positive to look up to. When you think positively, you will condition your mind not to crack under pressure. Your mind has incredible power to influence, to a great extent, other parts of you. If you think and focus on the negative side of life, it will tilt your life towards negativity. On the other hand, if you think positively, it will radiate on the outside, and you will also act positively.

Another way to build a resilient mind is to learn lessons from every battle of life. Everything that comes to you will always teach vital lessons. Even failure is not completely bad if it can teach you vital lessons. When things happen, try to ask yourself if there are things that it can teach. You also need to feed your mind with words of encouragement, and allow it grow through challenges. You will agree with me that the human muscles grow through exercises. In the same way, the human mind can also grow and be strengthened through challenges. Let the challenges that come to you become a tool of strengthening for your mind.

In addition, learn to control the controllable and what you can. Instead of focusing on what you do not have control of or trying to change what cannot be changed, and being broken that you cannot change it, it'll be better to focus on what you can control. There may be just very little or nothing you can do to control your circumstances, but there is everything you can do to control your reactions to them. In all these, always remember one thing; never isolate yourself. The strength of a tree does not only come from the external parts that you can see, but from the internal network of root supporting it. In the same way, when you have good network of people around you to support you, you will become strengthened on the inside to withstand the challenges on the outside.
