RE: Mountains, mountain goats, and 44 hours of sleep-deprived madness: A few words and photos from the Elks Traverse

Glad you enjoyed the show - we went right by the hot springs, but of course didn't have time to stop and relax :) That is really cool that you used to live in Aspen back in the day… sounds like you were out here before the massive invasion of Colorado got started!

Definitely enjoyed the tour thanks!

Such a shame you didn't get to stop and soak your tired muscles in the hot springs..and stayed the night there...You didn't perhaps get a chance to take a photo of the springs as you were flying by...? I still have a great image of them in my mind but unfortunately that photo is fading (probably just as much as the real photo is- if I actually have any photos that is...)

Even I was too late as the invasion started before I got there, though I'm sure it's probably much worse now...

Here's a photo of me back then!

And thank you! You have inspired my next post tomorrow night in the Wednesday Walk community (it was a walk...It may have been over 20yrs ago, but it was still a walk.....🤣.)

Thanks and I look forward to living some of the rest of my life through you and your adventures....🤣

Nope, we weren't close enough to photograph the hot springs… it's probably a good thing, because we would have been tempted to stop and waste time relaxing there :) Needed to get that trip over with!

That's a rad pic! Indy Pass is just around the corner from where I'm camping right now.

Shame that you were in such a hurry. Not really a place to be in such a hurry really...Well obviously for the lack of camping gear and stuff, but it so spectacular to be in such a special place you know. I could stayed there for weeks...

Almost moved into an old cabin up on the back of Ajax but just missed out...

So if you're camping near Indy Pass, then your either near of have been to Indy (ghost) town then?

Yep I've been through there! I'm actually a bit closer to Leadville at the moment, but it's all gorgeous territory.

I'm not always in such a hurry… just when I'm trying to connect a bunch of mountains :)

Wow, cool that's so funny cause one day when my ex and I were driving down valley from Aspen, we decided to go up to Ruedi Resevoir to have a bbq for dinner.

But then we just kept going and a couple of nights later ended up in Leadville, then Edwards, Vale, Loveland, Estes park And all the way through to Custer County, Rapid City, down through Alliance to Williams, Las Vegas then eventually arrived home to El Jebel about 3 months later...🤣

Driving through from Reudi Res through to Leadville was just such an extraordinary experience. We saw so many amazing things on the way...I'd absolutely LOVE to go back and stay there again for much longer too!

Good to see you go slow sometimes too..😂

That sounds like a fun little 3 month detour…

I lived in Leadville for almost 5 years. It's a cool town, but it is getting way too crowded for my liking.

I think everywhere is far too crowded these days...especially the US...And I live right in the centre of Melbourne...lol..

So I look forward to the day when you can come over here and I can be your tour guide- especially for the Daintree Rainforest in Far North QLD. Many mountains to climb up through there...like this one- the mother mountain- Thornton's Peak...https://wanderstories.space/thornton-peak/

Do you know Statebridge, near Edwards/Avon?
