[Films Critics] True Lies

in #movies5 years ago

There is no doubt that I am a super fan of old action movies, movies where action is created from perfectly orchestrated situations to give us a huge dose of adrenaline, all that realistic atmosphere that some movies used to give us really entertaining scenes was fantastic because everything depended on the interaction and dynamics that the actors managed to create, rather than on the amount of effects and explosions that were created digitally. Yes, I am particularly not a lover of those action movies with dozens of explosions, CGI and digital effects because I feel that they take away the importance and realism of the stories and I don't misunderstand that now the movies are "bigger" but we have to admit that many times the directors abuse the use of digital effects.

In fact, yesterday I was able to see for the hundredth time one of my favorites, True Lies; a film about spies, terrorism and infidelities with a fantastic argumentative rhythm where we see different things happen at the same time but that never overwhelms us and that instead does not stop entertaining us with wonderful moments.

As I said True Lies is a really entertaining and different movie because beyond being an action movie where the main plot places us in the center of an investigation about a possible terrorist attack by a domestic terrorist cell that has been made with an extremely powerful bomb, we also have all this husband and wife mess that develops around Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis, where we see the first watch his wife and make her pass for super entertaining moments after he thought the woman was cheating on him with a man pretending to be a spy. The whole plot unfolds wonderfully because we have something as important as the possible terrorist attack being overshadowed by the intensity that is built around a wife's possible deception of her husband, a tough and lethal man but who at heart is afraid of losing his wife.

The plot takes us through really great moments where we see how the character Arnold Schwarzenegger uses the resources at his disposal to orchestrate a kind of adventure for his wife, all with the aim of giving some adrenaline to their relationship and give her a taste of that world of spies and action that she craves so much. Seeing big action scenes spiced up by that dysfunctional husband-and-wife relationship unfolding in the midst of a possible terrorist attack is hilarious because we constantly see the surprise of a woman who discovers that her husband is basically a killing machine, a man she always thought was boring but was actually a government super agent in charge of bringing down terrorist groups.

This movie, even though you don't believe it, is one of the most creative plots created around an action movie I've ever seen, because besides giving us that, action, it also gives us many emotional and comedic moments that never clash with the intense rhythm of the movie. Constantly we see to emphasize those different nuances that make great this film, a film that beyond being a little superficial and go fast as to its development, never stops entertaining them, well as I said I have seen it dozens of times and still enjoy it as the first time. Everything in this film likes me, the action, the comedy and above all the interpretation of two characters who place themselves in different roles but who manage to dominate fantastically to feel real and very entertaining, in this film Arnold Schwarzenegger makes one of my favorite performances because he adds his typical interpretation of rude type with some wonderful shades of humor and insecurity.

This is a film that's going to amaze them or blow their heads off, but it's a film that doesn't stop entertaining everyone because in every scene something great is happening, we always see the story going forward either because of the terrorist attack or because of the dysfunctionality of this kind of husband-wife scam that is so amenably created.
