Maximum Overdrive (1986)
Directed by Stephen King
Plot: Strange things begin to happen when planet Earth is cruising alongside some mysterious galactic green gas. Now all of the electronics have taken on a life of their own and have one thing on their mind... KILL! The story focuses on a group stranded at a truck stop in the middle of no where surrounded by rogue semi-trucks. They'll have to work together to survive this automated nightmare.
Reflection: This was a movie I absolutely loved growing up. Only to find out that most people tend to not like it at all. Lol. Still, I have a lot of fun with this movie! It's paced well and has some modest scares here and there. Admittedly there are problems with plot logic (some cars are able to be driven, etc) but I think there should be room to suspend disbelief when watching movies of this caliber. Would recommend anyone throw this on with a group of friends. AC/DC doing original music for the film is a major bonus.
It's also worth mentioning that this is the first and only movie directed by Stephen King. According to him, there was a lot of cocaine consumed during the making of this film-- which could explain the end result.
Further Viewing: Christine, Tremors, Joyride
This movie is made up of awesome moments that for some reason can't form into a masterpiece. That vending machine scene always puts a smile on my face.
Totally fair assessment. The whole little league portion outshines the rest of the movie.
