Plot: An overbearing Mother is bitten by an exotic rat, causing her to be infected and turn into a mindless zombie. Lionel, the momma’s boy, has to try and keep his dead Mother under wraps all while entertaining his family and a women of interest. Things quickly get out of hand when the infection spreads.

Reflection: karate priests? Giant rubber rats? Zombie babies? No problem! This is what happens when a zombie movie does a ton of drugs-- Peter Jackson at his bat shit craziest. Dead Alive was always had a movie cover that jumped out to me at the video store. If you're into zaney humor mixed with balls-out practical effects, this movie is your new favorite. I don't know if it still stands-- but at one point, this was the most fake blood ever used in a movie. And you can see every bit of that claim. There are some straight up gag inducing effects for those with weak stomachs. Overall amazing experience. It feels a little long at times, but this is a must see for fans of cult cinema.

Cinemax in the mid 90s was the best! Guys that would bring up this movie when I was in college we'd become instant friends. "I kick ass for the Lord!"
