I am very excited and pleased to share this news with you! It is my next live DJ set, outside of livestreaming, and it is the collaboration between Dark Matter (London), the Techno night I am resident for (which currently holds parties in Union, Vauxhall, south London) and Keep On Techno Records (which I am also heavily involved in), which is one of the UK's fore running Techno labels!

It was a wonderful idea to merge the two forces for one night because many of the Keep On Techno crew have also played at Dark Matter before. It will be fun to interact with the crowd and it will hopefully also raise awareness and the profile of the label. I am fairly new to Keep On Techno, I have been on board for about 2 years but in that time I have seen it grow in success due to the core of very talented producers the team have brought on, as well as some special guest remixes too. This will be the first time that we will all be together under one roof, and in fact, it will be a first time for me to meet the rest of the Keep On Techno crew fully as they are all dotted around the UK.

The Techno sound has really evolved in the past 6 years, it has changed quicker than any genre I have experienced before (obviously it outlived Dubstep, Deep House and Tech House; Tech House is still about but Techno has taken it's crown as #1 club night sound, especially in London). I found the current Techno sound emerged from the toughening of the Tech House (especially as BPM rose and the basslines got more 'acidic'). In my humble experiences I have witnessed with my 2 eyes, this is mainly due to every other dj wanting to play it harder and more \m/ 'extreme' than the last. It happened in the heavy metal world as well, making emo to become metalcore and then grindcore, transitions happen. Everything links and flows into everything, see below for the flowcart of heavy metal - heavy metal being a massive passion of mine as well.

And this has happened in Techno too! I've seen 'techno' go from a 'classic progressive house sound' to anything upto 150bpm.

I'll give you an example;

Suara, if you google them are one of the top flight Techno labels, this was their sound and it was considered 'Techno'

O.B.I. - Please Rave Harder

I mean, all that has happened is that Hard Techno (which was once a niché sound reserved for the hardest ravers in London clubs such as Corsica) has become mainstreamed and being played by the biggest names in the Techno game. My only is that it will be pushed soo hard, it will become inaccessible to the regular party go-er and then nosebleed techno will return.

BUT ALL WILL BE REPRESENTED AT THIS INCREDIBLE CLUB EVENT! (except maybe the nosebleed techno - ITS GABBA

I will be playing my usual twisted acid rave infused Techno sound, because damage can be done at lower BPM's 😉

All views are my own as my opinions, we are entitled to them and blogs give me the chance to sound them out. They are also formed from my personal experiences from DJing within the Techno community in and around London.

Don't you think it's mad that we have to put a disclaimer on our own opinions these days?

Anyway, if you're in London on Saturday 21st May, and you like Techno and would like to support the local Techno scene, its artists and DJs, please come and rave with us, it would be a true delight to meet you all.

Just don't ask for Gabba, ok?
