Emily King, ironically, is actually one of the queens of modern indie jazz. "Sleepwalker" has just enough funk to the smooth, it's almost like crunchy peanut butter...you get exactly what you're looking for, and then some!!
Here are the lyrics:
Somethin' in the air is callin’ me
Turn the light on
Somethin’ ‘bout that night that makes you see, what you don’t want
I think about it every time I sleep, there is someone
Creepin’ at me, swear they hauntin' me
Telling me “Run”
I feel my body
Without me again
like a sleepwalker
Getting closer to you, getting closer to you
I think I might be goin’ crazy now
Someone stop me
Forgot to lock the doors to keep me in
Didn’t hide the key
I feel the cold air, I feel the dirt, under my toes
Somethin’ tells me that I’m far away and I’m not alone
I feel my body
Without me again
like a sleepwalker
Getting closer to you
I feel my body
Without me again
like a sleepwalker
Getting closer to you, getting closer to you
Now we’re alone
Whispers disturb a quite home
No one will know
No one, darling
Come close
I feel my body
Without me again
like a sleepwalker
Getting closer to you
I feel my body
Without me again
like a sleepwalker
Getting closer to you
I gotta hold ya, I gotta hold you
I gotta hold ya, I gotta hold you
I gotta hold ya, (feel my body) I gotta hold you (off without me)
I gotta hold ya, I gotta hold you (I can see you walk)
I gotta hold ya, I gotta hold you (without me again, without me again)
I gotta hold ya, I gotta hold you (getting’ closer to you)
If you like this track by her, I highly recommend listening to others of hers such as "Georgia" and "Distance".
