They say that every fourth person on the planet suffers from a mental illness. It is for this reason that we decided to look at the most unusual of them to prove how mysterious the human brain is.
The Quasimodo syndrome
Mirror drug addiction sometimes turns into quasimodo syndrome - a disease characterized by chronic self-indulgence. One begins to think himself ugly and is constantly doing plastic surgery to correct the shortcomings he thinks he is. Most of the patients are not satisfied with the results of the interventions and are subjected to new and new ones. If the condition gets worse, it can also grow into dysmorfoophobia - a disease that is expressed by neurotic fear of physical deficiencies, more of which are not real, but obvious. A study of Brazilian scientists at the University of Sao Paulo shows that 14% of the world's population suffers from this disease.
Erotomania
Erotomania sufferers are convinced that someone is in love with them (usually a man with a much higher social status, such as a star). These particular patients are confident that their fanciful admirers show their attachment to them through special gestures, secret signals, telepathy or encrypted messages in the media. It is difficult to overcome this disease - even if the presumed admirer has stated directly "no". An eratomania patient will interpret this as part of the strategy that the relationship should hide from society.
Cappress syndrome
Kapgrass syndrome, also called double syndrome or delusion, is a condition where the affected person thinks that one or more of his relatives are replaced by strangers, and he refuses to accept these people more closely as his relatives, tries to drive them away and even in most cases he turns to the police. This condition usually affects women, and in some cases the affected ones lose their sense of their own identity, especially when they look in the mirror.
This disease often goes hand in hand with schizophrenia.
Fregoli's Syndrome
In this case, patients believe that all people they meet are the same. They just wear masks and change permanently.
The syndrome was first described in 1927 - at that time a girl was convinced she was being pursued by two actors from the theater she had been attending. They took the form of people they knew or met.
Adele's syndrome
Adele's syndrome is characterized by an intercourse, a craving, and a casual love. Recently, doctors recognized it as a mental illness that could seriously endanger human health and life. They even compared it to gambling, alcoholism and kleptomania.
Symptoms of this disease resemble that of severe depression, but can be much more dangerous. Pursuing the object of desires, self-deception, deceptive hopes, voluntary self-sacrifice, ignoring friends' advice, reckless actions, and losing interest in everything else.
The syndrome is named after Adele Hugo, the daughter of French writer Victor Hugo, who falls in love with the British officer Albert Pinson. A film about her story is made.
