In conclusion, my brothers and sisters, fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise: things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and honourable. Philippians 4:8
The world is so corrupt that it doesn't take any effort to get one's mind filled with dirty thoughts. The things we see and hear on a daily basis, in the television, on the radio, on the street, are filled with so many junks and they find their way into our subconscious. Has it ever happened to you that you sing along unconsciously to a song you never deliberately listened to? It has happened to me a couple of times and when I realised it and wondered how I got to know the songs, I found that they were probably trending songs on the radio or TV or around town.
How then do we keep our minds-(which we are pursuing to keep pure being Christians) free from these unfit materials? We can borrow from part of the instructions of Paul to the Philippians in the verse quoted. By consciously and consistently thinking about these things we would blot out the undesirable contents and thoughts from our minds. It would not be easy to get rid of them, but consistency, acknowledging mistakes made and correcting them immediately are sure huge steps in the right direction. We should ask God for help always and not lean on our own ability and we would know true peace.
