This Sunday is the international day of planet earth. A celebration that was implemented in 2009, since then, every April 22, according to resolution 63/278 of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), will be the day to honor Mother Earth.

The date was named in that way because the expression Mother Earth is common in several cultures. It is also a way of recognizing that she is the one who gives life to all the beings that inhabit her and shows the interdependence between the multiple forms of life.

Thus, the entire international community, civil society and non-governmental organizations were invited not only to celebrate the day but also to raise awareness about the care that our home deserves.

The fastness of this year has an additional ingredient.

Coincidentally, the meteor showers of the lirides will be at its peak during the early hours of Sunday.
