Healthy Shakes That Make Your Poo Green

I know, this is a little vulgar, but it's INCREDIBLY healthy and ABSOLUTELY true!

My fiance (who has RA) decided that she wanted to start 'healthifying' our intake some months back. She read some information on the benefits of making 'healthy shakes' comprised of a plethora of greens, fruits, and special grains.

The claimed benefits were increased energy, feeling better, both physically and mentally, and potentially losing some 'bad' weight. After drinking them almost daily for the last few weeks, I am going to give you honest results.

These drinks have had the precisely claimed effect. On days when we forget to drink them, we are often reminded by a persistent lack of the benefits provided. We may not remember at all, we try to figure it out...

Then we remember we need some nutrients. I have to say, the more often we have them the more noticeable these drinks have become - on the outside. Within an hour of drinking one of these shakes, I see more 'color' in our faces.

Not even kidding - it's legit.

What's more is...

They actually taste AMAZING! (after you play with the ingredients a bit)

I'm not going to lie, their appearance is quite ghastly upon approach, but they have a delicious flavor when made right!

So, I'll tell you how we make them, and you can decide if you want to try. Give it a go?

Healthy Shakes That Make Your Poo Green (The Recipe)

You'll need some sort of blender to make this. We have a Ninja that works well, but we have made this even with an old blender. The better the blender, the easier the process. If you have an old blender you'll find out why.

Just remember, if it is getting too thick and sticking to the sides you need to add some more liquid to the mix.

This recipe will be for a single serving. We always make it for two, so we double it. You can increase the ingredients (so long as your blender is large enough) for however many people you are drinking with.

The ingredients are as follows:

  • 2 cups of organic baby spinach leaves

  • 1/2 to 3/4 cups of UNSWEETENED vanilla almond milk

  • One heaping Tbsp of salted natural peanut butter

  • 1 Tbsp of flaxseed meal

  • 1 Tbsp of hemp hearts

  • 1 Frozen (peeled) and quartered banana

  • 1/2 cup of mixed frozen berries

  • 1/4 of a whole fresh mango (option: replace mango for 1/4 cup pineapple)

  • 1/2 tsp of ginger

  • 1/2 tsp of turmeric

  • 1/4 tsp of black pepper (helps with the absorption of bromine anti-inflammatory)

  • Optional 1/2 tsp cinnamon (also helps with absorption)

How To Make It

If your blender can handle it, just lump it all in there starting with the spinach and blend until smooth. Voila! You'll be feeling better about 30 minutes after drinking!

If your blender can't, add the spinach leaves and almond milk first and blend till smooth - then add your other ingredients.

Is your drink too thin? Add more banana. Too thick? Add a little almond milk. Want it colder? Add some ice. Like your alcohol? Throw in some smooth vodka (if you try this let me know if it's good, lol.)

Hope you enjoy! If you're squeamish, I don't suggest looking down after you use the restroom tomorrow!

I DO SUGGEST that you look in the mirror before and after having them. It may not happen right away, but you'll notice a change in your complexion. Health is visible, it's true!

Enjoy!

I can't say I generally feel the need to look in the toilet bowl after I've been...

Lol. Then you are a step ahead head the game and closer to health than you know it! (maybe). ;P It's better to skip the traumatic part.

Yes green smoothies and juices have a habit of doing that. I alternate between the two and really see the benefits, especially when I have been away from home and unable to keep up with them for breakfast. Thank you for promoting the wonderful benefits of smoothies x
