Cold water swimming in Maidla lake

What a nice sunny day! 'Twas a nice change to get away from the computer and the all the mess around Steem and Hive. We just got a bunch of guys together and headed 23km out of Tallinn, to Maidla lake.

Maidla lake sits right by the roadside, but it's bordered by trees, with the lake only visible in a few spots, so this, and the fact that the road is quite low traffic, keeps the lake clean.

There were multiple swimming pontoons and bridges to jump into the water from, but the major one was surrounded by thick ice, so we went a bit further around the lake, to find a small swimming pontoon and thats where we swam.

I'm not a human thermometer, but I think the water was somewhere around 1-3 degrees. The area around the pontoon was clear of ice due to the waves created from people walking on the pontoon, so we went in from the ladder and came out from the sides.

The area around the lake was quote nice too, with grilling stations, benches, kids' playgrounds and sand. Might come back here in the summer as well with some bratwursts to grill.
