By Army Corps estimates, at least 85,000 acres of wetland will benefit from the added freshwater flows.

Interesting article about a new pumping station being built in South Louisiana, but for me the interesting part is that it will restore wetlands down the bayou. This pump will triple the fresh water from the Mississippi River, something that is badly needed. The sediment that it will carry with it will help build land and keep fragile fresh water plants alive. South Louisiana needs more of this.

Seems like I'm reading more and more about restoration projects in that area.....

I think people are slowing waking up to the need for them.

The benefits from the pump is so great according to the article that it's a no brainer.

Yep, I'm hoping for more like this in the coming years.
