Lanky and long-beaked, the cranes are North America’s tallest birds. They’re also one of the continent’s most endangered. Their numbers fell to just 20 in the 1940s. By the 1950s, they had vanished from Louisiana.

Interesting article about the women that are trying to bring back the population of the whooping crane in South Louisiana. This is great to see, it's a shame that the cranes got to this point in the first place. Anyway i hope the people in charge get the credit that they deserve. :)

It sounds like if they can get the population to a certain point the birds will start multiplying pretty fast.
