Austrian Alps in Summer

From time to time I visit the Austrian Alps for some hiking and landscape photography. It is always an amazing experience and the landscapes there are some times very amazing. Depending on the weather that can change pretty fast in the mountains it can be more or less a very wonderfull experience. I have to admit that most of the time when I was hiking in the Alps I had very much luck with the weather and I could take some really nice Pictures from up there in the mountains.

The first picture I show you here is probably one of my favorite mountain pictures of all times. The old mand with the red coat watching the fog to dissapear to realease the view to the Grossglockner. The water reservoirs of the Kaprun Power plant is really amazing and the color of the water is incredibly beautiful depending on the sun and light situation. In this first picture the sun just came out behind the clouds and the fog started to fade away very quickly.

If you are on the mountains in the summer you need to be prepared for cold and warm weather. It changed very quickly and I had to undress all the warm coats when the sun came out. But while it was still foggy it was pretty cold with a little bit of cold wind too. Sun protection is also very important since often I don't feel the strong sun because of colder air and wind. But I managed to get a sunburn up there very easily.

This year I still haven't visit the higher mountains here in Austria and I don't know if I will but when I still have some free time in August or September I might consider it a good Idea. Since I live in Upper Austria in the plains I have to drive quite a bit to get to the Alps and depending on my other plans for this year I still don't know if I manage to find enough free time to visit the mountains this year also for some hiking.

I also have to admit that I am a bit out of training at the moment since I haven't been hiking in the mountains this year. I would probably struggle to do some hiking trips that are a bit more exhausting but probably easy ones wouldn't be that much of a problem.
