In the previous posts I have mentioned that orchids are a group of very diverse and numerous plants in the world, there are 25 thousand species and there are also numerous hybrids. The flower that I bring you today crocheted is a hybrid called Rlc. Toshie Aoki, I will tell you a little about the nomenclature of orchid hybrids.

Nomenclature

Due to the large production of new orchid hybrids, it was necessary to create a nomenclature system that allows keeping track and sequence of crosses, identifying the resulting individuals and giving credit to breeders.
There are two entities in charge of registering and regulating such as: International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants (CIPNH) and the International Code of Botanical Nomenclature (ICBN).

Rlc. Toshie Aoki
Rlc derives from intergeneric hybrids, that is to say from three species of different genera belonging to: * Brassavola, Laelio and Cattleya * which is assigned the name of Rhyncholaeliocattleya which would be abbreviated Rlc.
Toshie Aoki is the name Grey, that is, it is any name, written in any way that the registrant specifies and is registered with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS)
