Brisingr, Chapters 13-16

Spoilers!

Chapters read:

  • Shadows of the Past
  • Amid the Restless Crowd
  • To Answer a King
  • A Feast with Friends

These chapters really feel like I'm getting into Brisingr's story properly. It was nice to get to know Arya a bit more, she's been through a lot and is a fascinating character. The whole scene of the spirits arriving was awesomely abrupt, so unique and fun. The world of Alagaesia continues to be mysterious and I love it.

Many of these chapters were political and I thought various figures were going to admonish Eragon but it didn't happen, not even Saphira appeared to be too angry. I found it extremely interesting that both Nasuada and King Orrin both agreed with Eragon regarding Eragon's choice to spare Sloan. Arya was pretty clear in her opinion there.

It was enjoyable to see Eragon reunite with and be in the company of the citizens of Carvahall at their little surprise party. I remember the Ra'zac destroyed Carvahall but I don't really recall what happens to the town at the end of Inheritance. I don't remember if they go back and rebuild or not. I hope they do.

It was nice to see Eragon will be marrying Roran and Katrina and that the couple will be expecting a child. The vibes at the end of 'A Feast with Friends' were off the chart.

These chapters were smooth and just enjoyable. It seems that Eragon is adjusting well to his life as a Rider and is facing his problems pretty boldly. He has a lot on his plate but seems to just be accepting it.

My memory of reading Brisingr the first time starts to fade a little bit here, and so re-reading it is more and more exciting. I am roughly thirty-forty percent through Brisingr and man, its still such a raw feeling. Who knows when I read this before, who knows when I will read it again. I suppose I can just read it as often as I want but yeah, life gets busy.

Re-reading Brisingr floods my brain with memories of what life was like, everything that has transpired since then, and oddly enough what my hopeful future holds. I hope the next time I read Brisingr, I will be in a different, better place in life.

The story rolls on though, I can't wait to keep reading.
