Chapters read:
- Nar Garzhvog
- Witch's Brew
- The Storm Breaks
- Convergence
Well, things really start happening in these chapters! The war to vanquish Galbatroix seriously kicks off with their epic battle on The Burning Plains!
Before things kicked off, the Varden surprisingly agreed to let a collection of Kull join their forces. The Urgals were used and then betrayed by Galbatorix and they want their get back! The leader of this tribe of Kull, Nar Garzhvog actually seems really cool in my opinion. He not only seems to be a fearsome warrior, but his intellect and ability to see logic is surprisingly great. He walked into the Varden's territory before the battle despite pretty much every single person hating him. Impressive courage for sure. When he roared at Nasuada I found that pretty awesome. Roaring is a form of greeting to the Urgals. In general I sort of like the Kull. They're like mega giant, much more intense Dwarves.
The battle that finally ensues is a gritty massive one, and it's nice to see that Eragon and Saphira are legit forces to be reckoned with after all the training they went through.
The chapter 'Convergence' is an amazingly memorable chapter for me. Feels like Roran and Carvahall have been in a continuation of book one and when they finally reach the battlefield after an insane journey, it's really like they've officially joined book two. I wonder if Paolini considered naming 'Eldest' 'Convergence' seems like a decent possible alternative title. After everything Roran and company have been through, Roran is about to dive into ANOTHER crazy event. At the end of 'Convergence' he says he is about to alter the fate of Alagaesia and that statement made me want to just run through brick walls I swear!
Convergence is a strong word indeed for the final portion of Eldest. The shock both Eragon and Roran experience at seeing one another is crazy enough, but the shock Eragon is about to see again whenever Murtagh and Thorn show up is going to be another LEVEL of shock and just epicness. I am pretty sure Eragon still believes Murtagh to be dead. Ahhhhhhh!!!!
Knowing the bones of Inheritance Cycle, it is intriguing to think that Eragon, Roran and Murtagh are all related! Just nuts.
I am absolutely cherishing these last pages of Eldest. I treasure these books man. The next post I will summarize my thoughts on the entire novel. I can't wait. I truly can't remember when or how exactly Murtagh shows up and I'm glad I'll get to relive it. I wonder what levels of nostalgia I am going to feel?
Let's GOOOOOO!!! Words can only describe so much of my feelings. This is going to be special.
