GUIDELINES TUTORIAL FOR NEW STEEMIANS

I was finally approved on steemit some days ago, after waiting tirelessly for about three weeks with no response from steemit. but thank God for @surpassinggoogle who finally helped me with an invite link. Boss am grateful for your kindness.

So my very first time on steemit as a newbie was quite funny, because I could not comprehend the meaning of most commonly used word and also could not relate with their meaning.

Every newbie need to understand these words

1.Steem is the fundamental unit of account on the Steem blockchain. All other units (Steem dollars and Steem power) derive their value from the value of Steem. There is no need to hold on to Steem in its cryptocurrency form, it should be used either to buy Steem power, Steem dollars or be converted to bitcoins. Steem increases in supply 100% each year. Steem was first published as a whitepaper in March 2016.The currency and platform were in Beta until July 4th 2016.

2.Steem Dollars or SBD are the units used to reward users for posting and curating content. Each Steem dollar represents the amount of Steem equivalent to 1 USD. Steem dollars (or SBD) were created so that users won’t be affected by the fluctuating exchange rate of Steem. SBD are actually a promise, that when you come to cash out you will receive the USD equivalent in Steem of what you’ve earned. Steem dollars earn an interest rate of 10% annually

3.Steem Power Steem power (or SP) is a token symbolizing how much power you have inside the Steemit platform. When you have a lot of SP your votes count more in the system. In fact you can’t vote if you don’t have any SP. Increasing your SP is known as “powering up” and decreasing it is known as “powering down”. The way to power down is basically to cash your SP into Steem. This can be done over a preiod of 104 weeks (2 years) in order to insure that users don’t just cash out quickly and collapse the whole Steemit economy.

4.Steem Curation and Moderation In addition, you can make money with Steem. Anyone can read content posted on Steem without an account, and users can be entirely anonymous if they choose. Steem governs its users behavior through Community moderation, Steemetiquette if you will. There are no set guidelines as of yet, like on Reddit, but they are being created organically and are self-enforced by the Community through their combined voting power called Steem Power. These guiding principles in many ways encourage quality original content from fellow Steemians, otherwise the user is simply wasting their time since they will likely not earn any rewards for posting low quality, undesirable content or spam. Voters on Steem are called "curators" and are encouraged to evaluate content, sources and links to find high quality information, then vote and moderate based on on the information's factuality, relevance and quality, rather than on opinions. Giving credit where it's due and citing sources is encouraged, since the original poster is being rewarded for the content, original content is preferred when it comes to handing out rewards.

5.Resteem Resteem is the sharing of content you find interesting to your followers .its like retweet button in tweeter and share button on facebook.Your resteem button looks like a bent arrow. If you don't see it, you may need to press F5 on your browser to get it to show up.
Does Resteeming someone’s post give them more curation, and also does it act the same as curating rewards at all?
If you resteem something, it will show up in your blog feed. Those who are following you will see that post. If you have curated that post, then it may be to your advantage to resteem it as well, as it will expose more people to the post to vote after you.

6.Upvote: An upvote on Steemit.com is very different than a vote on any other social-media website. Clicking that little arrow is much more than a “Like” on Facebook or a “Heart” on Instagram. On Steemit, votes are rewarded with STEEM When you upvote someone’s post - that value is not being withdrawn from your personal account. (This is a common misunderstanding.) You’re not giving anyone anything from your personal savings or STEEM Power. Instead, you’re vote is actually tapping into a brand new pool of STEEM.There’s a fresh batch of STEEM produced every day, and it’s called the daily rewards pool. New STEEM tokens are being created all the time. The rewards pool is an amount of STEEM generated every day from inflation. Right now, several tens of thousands of STEEM tokens are being created every day (Approximagely 63,000/day. The percentage of yearly inflation shrinks incrementally as time goes on). This daily STEEM represents the pool from which your vote takes a certain amount and distributes it to where you’ve directed. When you click the upvote button you are telling the STEEM Blockchain, “this is where I want X amount of the daily rewards pool to go.” The amount that you’re able to direct is dependent on the amount of STEEM Power you have. So the more SP you have, the more of the daily rewards pool you can direct to posts you like! (Your vote is not affected by liquid STEEM or SBD)
