Total Reset, Do we need one ?

I often wonder where we are as a nation. I remember a time when there was no real division on the idea of what an American is and stood for, One Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.800px-USA_Flag_Map.svg_normal.png
How time has changed that view or is it Us the citizens that have allowed feelings to Trump "no pun intended" common sense. I truly believe we are divided because of Government which in-turn spills over into common sense. Lets take for example the EBT situation in Alabama Food stamp participation in 13 Alabama counties dropped by 85 percent after they instituted work requirements to receive the benefit.

AL.com reports that high unemployment due to the economic recession led the state to temporarily waive the work requirement for able-bodied adults without dependents to receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. While 54 counties reinstated the work requirement on Jan. 1, 2016, 13 counties reinstituted it on Jan. 1, 2017.

According to the Alabama Department of Human Resources, reinstituting the work requirement has led to a major drop in SNAP participation for those 13 counties ()

The reason I use this as an example is simple, we as Americans have a core belief that being the richest country in the world no one should go hungry. I believe that also, but at what point do you not realize that it is being abused and the fact is only 15% of the people actually need the help. The truth of the mater is we cant afford it any longer with 20 TRILLION in debt. We need to come to the realization that we are a broke and broken nation. th.jpg

As I non American I am looking at American politics from a slightly less introspective angle. Firstly I find it interesting how people in democracies blame politicians. 2000 + years ago already it was said that people do not get the governments they want but those they deserve. I think America has lost touch and that they like England and all other super powers before them are battling with the changing geopolitical landscape.

The biggest problem with democracy is it assumes that people will make an INFORMED choice. As we have recently seen this is not true though, and that half truths lies and the such are all to easily gobbled up by poorly read, often poorly educated people. Yet they hold the power to decide .... the lowest common denominator.

I agree 100% we as a Nation know more about celebs then how many branches of Government we have. Its sad to see how we as a nation do not care what the state of the Union is.
