Introduction
The great victory multi-purpose co-operative society is truly a financial institution located in (your country)
The ideal of society was brought by Mr Victor on the ………………………… day of ………………. 20…………. This is basically of helping one another and to eradicate poverty amongst members
The society agreed unanimously that there should be laid down rules and regulation for proper running and management of the society. This is to achieve its goals.
ARTICLE 1
A. NAME and ADDRESS:
The co-operative society shall be known and called Great-Victory multi-purpose co-operative society. When call Great-Victory , the response shall be victor
B. MOTTO
The motto of the co-operative society is unity and progress.
C. SLOGAN
Every member hail “great victory”, other members respond “ victor”
D. REGISTRATION NO.
ARTICLE 2
A. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:
The aims and objective of Great-Victory multi-purpose society are:
- It is a financial institute which render financial assistance to members.
- To create the spirit of love, unity and co-operation among members.
- To assist member morally and financially in terms of business and economic enhancement.
- To promote the good image of the co-operative
- The co-operative has a weekly meeting (discussion) and savings
- It is a non-religious, non- political society.
B. LANGUAGE USAGE
The official language of the Great-Victory multi-purpose society is urhobo dialect while the minutes could be recorded in English language barrier it can be interpreted in English Language
ARTICLE 3
MEMBERSHIP - Member is opened to both sex (male and female ) who are of good character, he/she must up to 18 years or above
- Any applicant must be of good behaviour and mentally fit,
- Any applicant must have something doing as his or her means of lively hood
ARTICLE 4
SECTION 1
THE CO-OPERATIVE BYE-LAWS - THE NAME OF THE co-opeerative: the name of the co-operative shall be known and called Great-Victory multi-purpose co-operative. When called ok response shall be VICTOR
- The co-operative meetings start 5pm and close by 6.00pm
- Late comer(s) is to pay the sum of N20 quietly before resuming his or her seat, anybody that sits before the payment of the latecomer fine shall pay the sum of N30
- Every member shall contribute at least N500 every meeting day any member who fail to pay his/her contribution will pay the fine of N50 to postpone it, if not shall pay the sum of N100 by next.
- If a member fails to contribute his/her weekly basic (i.e N500) for three consecutive times shall pay a fine of N500.
- Every last Sunday of each month there shall be a general meeting; any member that fails to come shall pay a fine of N200.
- Any member who own fine of any kind; when transacting shall have his/her fine(s) deducted first before that person could be allow to contribute and/or refund.

- The co-operative frown against answering of phone call while in meetings is in progress any member found answering call shall pay a fine of N20 immediately.
- All contribution of the co-operative end thirty (30) minutes to the closing time of every meeting be it general or not.
- Any member who intended withdrawing his/her membership should notify the co-operative “there after his/her withdrawal proposal shall be verify for a period of three months before his/her money will be given to him/her, after all necessary deduction if need be more so compulsory administrative charges of N……………………………………… shall be deducted.
ARTICLE 5
LOAN PROCEDURE - Any member who want loan from the co-operative must be financial member with clear record of at least N …………………….
- Any member who want to loan must provide 2 sureties which will be held responsible for the debts of the borrower which he/she surety for it debtor fails to refund within three(3) consectutive meeting days, thus his/her loan will be shared among the sureties who pay such money.
- The loan interest rate of the co-operative shall be 5% per annum that is N50 upon n100
- The yearly loan interest rate shall be deducted from the amount loaned instantly.
- The capital loaned shall be divided by 50 weeks; the amount arrived at shall be the refundable money by the said borrower to co-operative every week Thus after two week of grace of normal contribution effect from the day the money was loaned However, if the loaner takes the money installmentally one week of grace shall be given.
- Loan will not be granted to a debtor
- If any member who loaned money from the co-operative fails to pays his\her weekly refund, shall pay t/3 of the weekly refund as fine which is called sub-charge before refunding begins.
- The co-operative have the right to seized those who surely for a loaner, in other to retrieve the balance of a debtor if any.
- Any member who wants to borrow money shall purchase an application form with the sum of N200.
- All loans must be refunded in one year (50 weeks) excluding the meeting two weeks of grace.
- Any member who purchase a form for loan and fails to contribute for three (3)consecutive times after which shall his/her form forfeited. Thus re-apply when fulfilled all impediments.
- Any member who apply for the loan, which not up to (the amount applied for)shall forfeited.
- Every member of the co-operative purchase transaction card from the meeting rate of N------------------------ and come with it when transacting or else will not be attended to.
SECTION 2
The various source of income of Great-Victory Multipurpose co-operative society are as follows: - Registration fees
- Late comers and subsequence fines
- Interest from loans
- Fixed deposit account.
SECTION 3
DISMISSAL/ REMOVAL FROM OFFICE
1 Any member who fail to pay his/her normal contribution of money , for four consecutive without good reason ,shall be advised to withdraw and wait for three month to get/collect his/her money with interest.
- if a member is couth discussing the affairs of the co-operative society with a non-member, this shall attract the fine of one thousand naira(1,000.00)and a bottle of wine, but refusal to pay this fine will lead to dismissal of such member.
- If a member is caught in a criminal act like stealing dismissal from the co-operative.
- Incase of death such a person shall cease to be a member.
ARTICLE 6
SETTLEMENT OF LOAN
SECTION1 - Legal action shall be taken, if any member who took loan from the co-operative Society fail to service his/her loan accordingly
- Any member who fails to pay-back his/her loan shall be arrested and be detained in the police custody as to recover our money-back
- Every expenses made by the co-operative society in the course of resorting to legal actions, will be paid by the debtor.
SECTION 2
SETTLEMENT OF LOAN GKUARANTEES - Two weeks of grace will be given to any surety, right from the day the money is shared among them to be paid due to the failure of the borrower to pay-back his/her loan.
- The co-operative society shall claim sub-charge from sureties who is refunding for another member, after the two weeks of grace, if he/she fail to pay-back the loan accordingly
SECTION 3
BLENDING OF ACCOUNT - Any member who took loan from the co-operative and want to blend his/her account with his/her capital in the co-operative pulse, shall pay the sum of three weeks sub-charge
- Any member of the co-operative society who took loan and want dto blend his/her account, must have minimum balance of fifteen thousand naira (15,000.00) in his/her account
SECTION 4
DEATH OF A MEMBER
In case of death of a member who borrowed or took loan from the co-operative society. - The co-operative society will have dialogue with the family member of the late member as to recover the money
- The co-operative society and the sureties will be take any legal action when necessary as to recover our money from the family member, if every means of dialogue fails.
- If any member of the co-operative die; the co-operative society will have dialogue with the family members as to handle his money to the family member after due consultation.
ARTICLE7
QUORUM
The chairman or secretary and two executive members and five other floor members, i.e. Eight persons can form a quorum.
ARTICLE 8
PROFITSHARING FORMULA
The profit of the co-operative society will be share among members on percentage ratio annually depending on members’ contribution on financial strength.
ARTICLE 9
EXECUTIVE
The co-operative has the following executive offices to run its affairs: - The chairman
- The chairlady
- Vice chairman
- Secretary General
- Assistance secretary
- Financial secretary
- Treasurer
- Cashier
- Spokesman/PRO
- Provost
B, DUTIES OF THE EXCUTIVE
CHAIRMAN
- The chairman shall preside over all general/executive meeting
- The chairman has the final say after considered the views of the majority of the members
- The chairman sign every document including the cheques
- The chairman has the right to appoint any help running the affairs of the meeting
THE CHAIRLADY
She assist the chairman to run the affairs of the meeting
THE VICE CHAIRMAN
He is to deputize for the chairman in his absence
SECRETARY GENERAL - He keeps proper record of the co-operative society
- He takes and record minutes of deliberations correspondence
- He can also preside over the meeting on behalf of the chairman and vice chairman
- He can summon meeting on the instruction of chairman
ASSISTANCE SECRETARY - He assists the secretary to perform some duties assign to him
- To acts the secretary in the absence of the secretary
FINANCIAL SECRETARY - The financial secretary is to receive all money
- He issue receipt on finance
- He prepare the co-operative statement of amount
- He joins the chairman and the treasurer to sign all document of financial transaction
TREASURER - He handles receipt of money
- He keeps proper of income and expenditure
- He shall save the money
CASHIER
The co-operative shall have two cashiers if need be, who will count money and make sure that they are correct. They are first receivers of money.
SPOKESMAN/P.R.O - He shall handle interviews
- He relates matters between officers and the general members
PROVOST - He is the chief security officer of the co-operative society
- He shall collect late comer’s fine, and handle such to the treasurer
- He is to maintain, law and order so that peace can reign during meeting
ARTICLE 10
A. TENURE OF OFFICE
The tenure of the office of the co-operative executive members is two(2) years.
B. NOMINATION ELECTION
For members to be nominated and elected into any of the society, he/she must posess the following qualities - He/she should be regular in meeting, must be of good character and physically fit
- He/she must be a financial member and performing well in all ratifications
- He/she must be law abiding and self discipline
C. TYPES OF ELECTION - The election of new executive shall be open ballot and base on simple majority vote.
- An adhoc electoral committee will be setup or appointed to conduct the election
- Every member should attend meeting as to allow free, fair and credible election
- Every member should attend meeting on the election day to witness the election as to avoid side talks
D. RULES FOR AMENDMENT OF CONSTITUTION - The constitution of the Great-victory Multi Purpose Co-operative society is subject to be amended either a section or the whole constitution, following all due process
- A constitution review committee will be appointed to be headed by the chairman of the co-operative society
- The review section/ sections of the constitution will be read to the general house for approval before endorsement
E. AMENDMENT PROCEDURE - A section/sections or whole of the constitution shall be amended by simple majority in any general meeting, if need arises.
- The constitutional review of amendment committee will meet to discuss issues within the time frame given to the committee to review .
