@ranuganteng Porto can count on the former Real Madrid captain for another season, in their bid to end Benfica's dominance in Portugal.
Iker Casillas has extended his service in Porto for another season.
The former Real Madrid goalkeeper's contract with Porto has run out on June 30, 2017, but on Thursday (6/7), he announced it had signed a new contract.
"It's a pleasure to continue another season with Porto! Stay tuned for upcoming challenges!" Casillas wrote on his Twitter account.
The 36-year-old goalkeeper underwent the last two seasons with Porto after leaving Real Madrid, where he spent his entire professional career until 2015.
He signed a two-year contract that included an option to add another year, though the additional duration would depend on the club's financial condition.
Casillas has played in 65 matches in the Portuguese Primeira for the last two seasons, helping Porto finish third and runner-up last season. While the rivals Benfica successfully won the title on two occasions.
Benfica successfully won the league four times in a row, while Casillas has not managed to present the trophy since joining Porto.
