Today, July the 27th, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham had some very interesting comments on the possibility of President Trump firing Attorney General Jeff Sessions. To quote Sen. Graham, "there will be holy hell to pay" if Sessions is fired, and that Trump would have to "face the consequences" of that decision.
Graham also added that these repeated comments to demean and humiliate Sessions publicly is not going over well in the senate, and in the conservative community in general. These comments by Trump are odd considering that Sessions was the first US Senator to publicly endorse him as a candidate in 2015. Sessions choice to recuse himself from the Russia Investigation is the reason why Trump has attacked Sessions (this coming from Trump himself).
It is believed that Trump is waiting until the August congressional recess to fire him because a new AG would not have to be confirmed by congress. Pretty good strategy by Trump whether you agree with him on this or not. Graham is also worried that Trump may fire special investigator Robert Mueller as well. As you are reading this, Graham and Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey are working on a bill that would allow congress to determine if there was probable cause for Trump firing Mueller (if he does end up firing him).
Very interesting developments, I'll definitely be keeping up with this story.
