Last month I went to Nice with my girlfriend. We are that kind of couple that likes to travel a lot and we were both never been to Nice before so we were really looking forward to it. We had rent an apartment on Airbnb, which we totally recommend doing. 500 meter away from the beach, 5 minute walk to the city-center, it was perfect! 
We really liked Nice, we thought it was so charming and beautiful. The city has some amazing views as you can see on the pictures. We tried various restaurants and we were always pleased with the food we had. I'd definitely go to a place named 'Balthazar', they serve the best burgers and they often have nights with live music. When we were eating there there was a group singing the song 'shape of you' and I'll never forget how beautiful that was. They told us Nice was an expensive city but besides from the drinks this was kind of okay. For example a salad with goatcheese for €14, the pints on the other hand were always more than €4 and sometimes even €8 ( on the beachbar). 
We also went to visit Monaco which is only 20 minutes by train (€3,60). We liked Monaco but it's totally different from Nice, the views are amazing aswel but there are no shops (only expensive ones like channel etc.), the beach is kind of small, everything is more expensive... although I would definitely recommend visiting. When we were in Monaco they were preparing everything for the Grand Prix Formule 1 so that was nice to see aswel. When you like to gamble a bit, there is always the famous casino of Monte Carlo, I went inside of it and it was the nicest casino I've ever seen. The roof was gold plated and the roulette wheels were all so authentic made in wood. 
Our most romantic night out we were sitting on a bay in the port of Monaco, we bought some sushi and bellini, and we just started talking and enjoying the view. When you are sitting there, you really appreciate the life you have. It was amazing. 
The trip was perfect and we definitely would like to go back some time in summer!! If you have the time to travel, never doubt about it and just do it.
