Today we visited Sheffield and one two of my favourite places, the national video games museum & mr miyagi's noodle and sushi bar.

The museum is fantastic, a great place to learn about the history of computing and video games, they even had a signed copy of a Sinclair ZX spectrum 48k computer, if you are my age, you will most likely have heard of the game Jet Set Willy, this particular computer was signed by the programmer of that game Matt Smith, not to be confused with a former Doctor Who lol.

(how can you not resist a game of Outrun?)

Anyone who grew up in the 80's and living in the UK should instantly recognise this, the BBC Model B, built by Acorn Computers, the name selected as it it came before Apple in the phonebook.
Anyhow, this BBC computer was brought out for schools to help children get into computing, in my junior school, we had two of these for the entire school. Although, it was a great machine, this was the first time I played space invaders and chucky egg on one of these, way before I got my ZX Spectrum.

A good old Commodore 64, I loved my C64.

Now for me, this is the best computer ever made, this is a Commodore Amiga 1200, the amiga had been released in various guises, starting with the 1000, then a cost reduced version for home use was released, the A500, which sadly, they don't have any of these on display. However, if it wasn't for this computer, I wouldn't be writing music today, I used to spend hours on this machine making music using OctaMED Soundstudio, which allowed up to 64 stereo channels of music, not sure what witchcraft they did to get this out of the machine, as it was only supposed to have 4 channels (2 left ones and 2 right ones). Sorry, the geek is coming out in me lol.

I was pretty impressed with the development systems that the museum had, especially the playstation 2 development system. It was a massive machine twice if not more the size of the original PS2, but this was a PS2 and a Linux based computer all in one.

I took loads of pictures, but don't want to bore you all with with, lets just say, I was in my element.

After the museum we headed to Mr Miyagi's, this is my favourite sushi bar in Sheffield. Looking back on my facebook timeline, I've not been there for 3 years, way before the first covid lockdown.

I had (pictured above) Singapore Noodles, the portion sizes are absolutely massive, this also came with Miso Soup.

My partner had Katsu Chicken, can't get over the amount of rice they gave her.

The young one had a Ramen with seafood chicken and pork in it, the portion sizes are absolutely massive. I've had these Ramen's in the past and I've never finished one.

After the meal, it was back on the tram back to Rotherham, if you are ever in Sheffield and fancy some sushi or noodles, then take a trip up Division Street to Mr Miyagis, this place is my top 3 favourite places for food.

I hope this post hasn't been too geeky, but I do hope you've enjoyed myself reliving my youth.

Thanks for reading.

All the best :-)
