But I disagree here...Orders are just words...words do nothing by alone.
It's through police and military that these monstrosity come to life, not through those who give orders.
Are they humans (police) or what? Do they have a brain? And if they have a so-called brain, is their brain ok? I don't thing so! What ailment or disease do they suffer from?
The ailment is firstly the selection process, what kind of characters get chosen, then the induction in the police academy where the brainwashing occurs to turn one into a monster-machine. When I mentioned Nuremberg, the defense always claimed that they were just following orders (the precedence from that time is that this is not a valid defense, and they are guilty). That too it brainwashed into them, not to question orders, but to blindly follow them. Once you had been brainwashed to set aside any kind of decency and humanity, it is easy to also follow such orders without question. Who did give such orders? In other news items I examined, the police chief and the prosecutors authorizing and ordering this action all said they did not give any order to destroy the equipment. It will be interesting to see how all this plays out in court challenges that are sure to follow.
BTW - I spent some time in the military, and experienced this kind of conditioning first hand, plus learned to better understand it studying anthropology later in life, subjects that dealt exactly with this phenomenon.
What saddens me is that one young man had his hand blown off by trying to pick up and lob back a tear gas canister. What these French kids should have learned from previous news is to use other means, like these protesters in Portland, who used hockey sticks to lob back teargas at the police, as well as leaf blowers.
