Pizza for dinner

in #ocd4 years ago

Being stuck at home has some advantages. Sitting around all day long without much to do forces you to take advantage of the smallest things...like making dinner.
I always wanted to try my hand at food photography but I've always found excuses(my food isn't worthy of being photographed, I don't have the right gear, I don't have the right props, etc).
Last night I baked some mini pizza's :D and after I pulled them out of the oven, I thought, "why not take some photos of them?".
2 people sharing a small 32 square meters apartment means you don't have a whole lot of space to work with or a whole lot of space to store stuff so I worked my way around that.

I gathered some stuff I had in the kitchen and threw them on a small coffee table. I got some flour, tomatos, cheese and arranged them as best as I could.
I wanted a moody looking image so I used a ring light camera left and a speedlight at 1/128 power to fill in some of the shadows.

It took me a couple of tries but in the end, I managed to get a few decent shots.
As for the editing, I kept it simple, I cropped the images a little bit, made some minor contrast, shadows, saturation adjustments and using curves, I crushed the blacks a little giving it a sort of matte looking.
I used my Canon 6D paired with a 50mm and an 85 mm. The images were taken at f11, 1/3 sec, ISO 100.
