Orbán Says Trump ‘Will Not Give a Penny’ to Ukraine

Donald Trump will totally stop funding Ukraine if he wins the U.S. election in November, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said following a meeting between the right-wing figureheads.
Said Orbán: “He will not give a penny in the Ukraine-Russia war. Therefore, the war will end, because it is obvious that Ukraine can not stand on its own feet.”

E. Jean Carroll Could Sue Trump Again Over New Attacks

Three days after Donald Trump posted a $91.6 million bond in the defamation case he lost recently to the writer E. Jean Carroll, her lawyer on Monday suggested she was considering filing yet another defamation lawsuit against the former president.
The lawyer raised the prospect of a new lawsuit after Mr. Trump in recent days repeatedly lashed out at Ms. Carroll, using the same kind of disparaging language that led to the huge judgment against him in January.

Trump Floats Cutting Social Security and Medicare

That may resonate with some younger voters, but older folks (who vote in large numbers) are unlikely to be enthusiastic about this.

Trump Claims Immunity in Hush Money Case

Former President Trump is seeking to derail the start of his first criminal trial just two weeks out from when it is scheduled to begin, asserting a presidential immunity defense in the case for the first time.
In court documents filed Monday, Trump’s lawyers said prosecutors have suggested they will introduce at trial “several types of evidence that implicate the concept of official acts for purposes of presidential immunity.” …
Previously, as Trump aimed to move his case to federal court, he unsuccessfully attempted to assert immunity under the Constitution’s Supremacy Clause. But a judge rejected the argument, also noting in his ruling that Trump had “expressly waived any argument premised on a theory of absolute presidential immunity.”

Raskin presses GOP on “sinister” disinformation on Biden

”There was indeed a Russian hoax — a hoax by Russian intelligence and Vladimir Putin to pin utterly false smears on Joe Biden,” Raskin wrote.
”Please explain how our committee came to be used in this sinister campaign.”

Democrats Hopeful in North Carolina, Nervous in Georgia

Democrats are starting to dream that President Biden can wrench North Carolina away from Donald Trump in November.
They’re less confident that Mr. Biden can hold on to Georgia.
The two Southern battlegrounds are creating a tricky strategic calculus for Mr. Biden’s campaign as it grinds into higher gear and decides where to direct its money, advertising and foot soldiers on the political map. The subtle, early tension is leading to no small amount of jealousy among Democratic allies of Mr. Biden in each state as they jockey for cash and attention.

Bloodbath at the RNC

Donald Trump’s newly installed leadership team at the Republican National Committee on Monday began the process of pushing out dozens of officials.
All told, the expectation is that more than 60 RNC staffers who work across the political, communications and data departments will be let go. Those being asked to resign include five members of the senior staff, though the names were not made public. Additionally, some vendor contracts are expected to be cut.
The overhaul is aimed at cutting, what one of the people described as, ‘bureaucracy’ at the RNC. But the move also underscores the swiftness with which Trump’s operation is moving to take over the Republican Party’s operations after the former president all but clinched the party’s presidential nomination last week.

Another Freedom Caucus member pushed out

Rep. Randy Weber said Monday that Freedom Caucus Chair Bob Good has essentially pushed him out of the conservative group over the Texas Republican’s lackluster meeting attendance.
