This painting that i am showing here, is one panel of a triptych that I just finished painting.

On the left you see it in its early stages and on the right, in its finished stage.

I started by painting a thin coat of burnt umber and I painted in the form of my arch. You can see I have also transferred my drawing onto the prepared canvas.

I then built up my figures with black and white and let the burnt umber shine through.

I used the finished central panel as a guide for the circles and arches.

I then started glazing the figures with translucent colors

The orange in the female figure is just a yellow glaze over the red you saw in the last picture.
I also started painting the creatures in the arch and the outer symbols.

I then gilded the panel with 24 karat gold leaf so that it matched the central panel in color.

You are painting next to a fireplace, how cosy!

It's always interesting to be shown a work in progress. I miss doing the photographing when I am working on something and so I miss most of what I created in its developing stage. It's a nuisance, to be honest.

To watch you in the making life, would be such a good experience, what a shame you live so far away. I come from Hamburg, Germany.

On what are you currently working?

Sincere greetings!
