The Bangladesh Open University (Bengali: বাংলাদেশ উন্মুক্ত বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) or BOU is a state funded college with its fundamental grounds in Board Bazar, Gazipur District, Dhaka Division. It is the seventh biggest college on the planet as indicated by enrolment.

The college was built up on 21 October 1992. BOU offers two sorts of projects, formal and non-formal, in seven schools and a system of 12 territorial asset Centers, 80 co-ordinating workplaces and 1,000 instructional exercise focuses across the country.

Study programmes:

A sum of 21 formal scholarly projects are offered by BOU. Formal projects are scholarly projects that outcome in the granting of a scholastic capability up to a graduate degree upon finishing and examination.

BOU's 11 divisions are composed into seven schools:

• School of Education: programs in instruction

• School of Social Science, Humanities and Language: programs in dialects ( English and Arabic) and sociology

• School of Business: projects of BBA, PGDM, Regular MBA and Commonwealth Executive MBA/MPA

• School of Agriculture and Rural Development: programs in agribusiness and improvement thinks about, B.Sc. in Agricultural Education, B.Sc. in Agriculture (up and coming), B.Sc. in Fisheries (up and coming).

• School of Science and Technology: B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), B.Sc. (Nursing), Diploma in Computer Science and Application (DCSA). M.Sc. in CSE (forthcoming), B.Sc. Engg. in ECE (Electronics and Communication Engineering) (up and coming), B. Sc. in Pharmacy (up and coming).

• School of Law: programs in law and legitimate investigations

• Open School: optional school finish programs

Accreditation:

BOU is conceded the specialist to give degrees under Clause 6(c) of the BOU Act 1992. BOU is perceived as a national college by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, a statutory body appended to the Ministry of Education.

The BOU is an establishing and taking an interest foundation of the SAARC Consortium on Open and Distance Learning (SACODiL).
