There are times when we should just suffer the consequences instead of solving all problems...

in #painlast month (edited)

I just got up and I decided to read some in the Bible. And I opened up Mark 15 and read the story in which Jesus is sent before Pilate and later sent to the cross. The entire crucifixion was terrible and painful, but also the parts before in which they hit him, placed a crown of thorns on his head, and all the other things.

And then the guards and the people around him mock him and say "he who saved others, why can't he save himself?" "He who said he could destroy and rebuild the temple in three days, let him get down from the cross."

The annoying and troublesome thing is... Jesus could have stopped it all at any time. He could have let the pain go, he could have solved it all, but he didn't. Of course, we know he didn't because he had to take all our sins to the cross for them to die, so that we don't need to carry them and die because of them ourselves.

But, this morning I also thought about raising kids. I always try to solve their problems instead of them, and when something painful happen to them, I feel like its my responsibility to solve it and make it all good again. Of course, this is the task of a parent, but I believe there is a time when you as a parent need to let the pain come to your kids in order for them to learn. It is a bad habit to know that if I mess it up, dad will fix it anyway. For them to learn responsibility, we also need to let them carry the consequences of their poor and wrong choices. Of course, we are always there nearby to help out, but still...

So, this is just something I was thinking about this morning. Any thoughts from anyone?
