My acrylic painting “Flying Dutchman” - Weather Warning

in #painting7 years ago

Hello my dear Steemians,

Weather Warning in Scotland
That was not planned to write about the weather in this post, but this morning when we woke up and I found that in our area South East Scotland we have Amber Alert for weather, that means wind and snow and that the school of our son is closed today (you can’t imagine how my son was glad to hear this news :) So when I looked through the window it is really some snow is laying on the ground, it is not deep may be max 3 cm, I just immediately recalled how few posts ago, my friend @alternateshift warned me not to tell a word with“S” – Spring, so I think it is my fault, that we have stormy weather.

On other hand, so because as a child I saw much snow the same like my husband when we had to go to school and it was snow up to our knees, nevertheless, everything was functioning like schools, airports, the flights, rails. I can imagine that for my Steemit friends in Norway, Germany and Russia ........this is normal winter weather that they have.

Anyway, my dear Scottish friends: @alternateshift, @andrewmckenna hope you have everything save and secure and we all will be fine at the end.

Now back to my Acrylic work:
Today I make a little break in my Watercolor painting and present my acrylic work, the reason for that was my little niece, you know her as “Little ballerina”.

I have already mentioned before my little niece, she has got cold and was last couple of days off school, so yesterday I decided to make her day a bit interesting as she was the whole few days in bed and I can imagine as every little kid it is boring and difficult because normally there is no free quite minute. But her parents asked me not to let her to plays active games so she is not exhausted.

My version of Vliegende Hollander:

Of course I was very good nurse and entertainer; I think my niece can’t imagine me without my painting or drawing. So first of all what she asked me tell me a story about “Flying Dutchman”. Of course, we searched a bit in internet and found that The Flying Dutchman (Dutch: De Vliegende Hollander) is a legendary ghost ship that can never make port and is doomed to sail the oceans forever. Immediately she wanted me to paint it. Of course I thought I will use acrylic colors as I did not want to mess around and also I did not have too much time either, so I took my palette knifes and colors, I still had no chance to buy blue color, so I had to really squeeze the rest and luckily it looks blue enough.

Because it is a ghost ship, I decided to make it and the sails in dark colors, no happy colors, but my niece wanted then a bit of sunshine, although I was not really convinced that it fit to that of course I agreed.

And few steps:

Thank you!

Dear Artist @stef1 ! FineArtNow is a new place for artists and art lovers on Steemit ! Become our friend ! See you soon !

It's like a Blizzard out there!! But you can't beat the beauty of it ;) It's a Winter Wonderland here on the West Coast Scotland, a little layer of Snow and the town is Gridlock I love it haha!! :)

This afternoon the same here on East, Blizzard, I am glad I am back home, nice to observe from home with hot cup of tea :)

Sounds lovely! I'm just home after digging out my Car for hours! What I love about us Scots is we all get together and help each other out during these times!

Had a full Army of Strangers out there helping us Dig the Car out of the Snow and Push it onto Clear roads!

Anyways I am enjoying a nice hot cup of tea under the blankets for the rest of the day :)

Hahaha! Told you! :-P
It's not too bad here, thanks! Wife's working from home for the rest of the week though. Just in case. Hope you're taking it easy too, Stef!
I'll be doing a post with some pictures but here's a preview.
Another great painting, by the way!

I bet your wife was glad to be stay at home, the photographs are not really inviting, but there are much more snow at your area. This PM, it seems like started again to snow, will see how my our car is looking like in teh morning.

I think the photos make it look worse than it is, but I've just had another look at the forecast and radar. It looks like it's carrying on like this until at least Saturday! I've never seen it like this before. We're all DOOOOOMED! :-D

Gorgeous painting, @stef1 .... Just love it. The texture, colour and atmosphere is superb, dynamic and powerful :)
And great pics of snow. Winter got extended :)

Thank you, I also love texture that acrylic color make, it is quite quickly dry and if you work with palette knife it leave nice pattern.

Yes ... Very true. Texture in acrylic comes out superb :)
