How I defeated the Fire Giant in Elden Ring at level 119

in #palnetlast year

Hey guys, Eddie the magic monk here. In this video I'm going to share with you how I defeated the Fire Giant in Elden Ring. It is undoubtedly one of the hardest bosses I have fought until this time. I tackled it at level 119 and still had difficulty defeating it. I have tried using spells to kill it but my comet azure spells take too long to charge before firing, so the giant would kill me instantly. The only way is to tackle it with a melee build.

Going through the equipment that I have, you can see that I have a fully upgraded "Sword of Night and Flame +10", which I guess is one of the best weapons possible. I use the Golden Order Seal to cast a Golden Vow spell to increase the attack and defence of my character, but it only lasts 80 seconds. So it probably ran out pretty soon after the fight started. I am using the full Lionel Set, which gives me a lot of physical damage negation and Poise, but it is quite heavy so I used two talismans to increase the endurance to help me equip them, the Radagon's Soreseal and the Great-Jar's Arsenal. The other two talismans I'm using are the Flamedrake Talisman +1 to boost fire damage negation and the Ritual Shield Talisman to raise my defenses when my HP is full. In terms of potions, I'm basically using all HP potions and no mana potions, because the whole fight is done with my sword and I barely cast any spells.

In the actual fight the boss has 2 stages. I'm pretty much on the horse the whole time unless I get knocked off. The first stage will start with a shock wave generated by the giant smashing the shield into the ground. You should be able to double jump over it with your horse if you time it right. If you got off your horse, try to summon it to get right back on it. If the fire giant attacks you when you're getting on your horse, you shouldn't be hit as you have a slight time frame of invincibility.

You can see the fire giant has a splint on his left ankle. Make sure you stick to his left foot the whole time on your horse. Stay within the melee attack distance of the foot. As soon as the giant rolls away, run towards its left foot in a straight line before doing anything else. If you are not within melee distance of the foot, his attacks will kill you instantly.

Keep madly slashing his left foot and you'll find that he falls down to his knees . That's when you need to slash it quickly some more. You'll start to notice a bit of fire on the floor. That's the only time you have to shift your focus from hitting the giant's foot to not standing on the fire. You can stand near the fire, but as long as you're not directly standing on fire you won't be burnt. Having a lot of endurance and a strong weapon will ensure you get his health down quickly enough over half way so you don't have to do this for too long.

After his health is lower than half, his left leg (The one you were attacking the whole time) will be gone so he will no longer be able to walk around. Even though he does not have much mobility left, he can still throw fire balls at you and roll along the floor, so really he is not any easier than before. As soon as the second phase starts, ensure you run behind the giant and not in front of him. If you're in front of him, his fire balls will come at you and they're very hard to deal with. After you're standing behind the giant, let his fire erupt attack shoot fire all over the place, as long as you're not too close to him, they should not reach you.

After the fire eruption spell is done, run towards his right foot and now repeat what you did with his left foot on his right foot, and that is continue to attack it non stop. He will roll side ways so you're just going to run to his foot as soon as he rolls. Remember to get back on the horse and heal yourself if he does hit you, it's not the end of the world to get hit once, you can still come back from it.

If you see fire, start running away. Don't stand close to the fire this time as they will spread. Run away, then run back to the foot. You can see I summoned a mimic tear for the second part of the fight. This is very important because it keeps the giant's focus on the mimic tear. You don't need to do that as much in the first phase so I didn't summon the mimic tear until the second phase.

If you see fire balls floating in the air, going slightly close to them will make them erupt over the floor, and then run away instantly so they don't get to you, then continue the fight. If you get knocked off the horse, don't forget you can still dodge on foot, if he attacks you straight after you get knocked off. Dodge any fire he throws at you, get back on the horse and continue the fight.

Hopefully after all these instructions you're able to take him down. You will be rewarded with 180,000 runes and a rememberance of a fire giant, which you can trade for 30,000 runes, "Giant's Red Braid" or Burn,O Flame! Incantation. Enjoy the rush!
