Choosing the Best Day Care for our Daughter

in #parenting7 years ago

Being back to work means making a choice on who is going to look after our child. My husband working at night he is able to look after her in the afternoon but need some sleeps in the morning. Also she will be happy to play with other kids and make new friends.

We are then looking for a place for her to stay a couple of hours in the morning till papa wakes up.

Choosing the right day care is choosing the people that will surround Julia, kids copy and notice how adult are so it’s important that the staff is great and kind.

We adult, build our children character by how we treat them and how we act towards them.

We want the best for our children and personally I want my daughter to feel free and still be respectful to others and things. We need to find a place were she can freely play but still learn the basics of living with others (of course she will learn this with us too when at home ). We don’t want something too strict that will kill her creativity but just a place where she will learn to live in society and follow a few rules ( wait your turn, not pushing others, sharing the space…).
It was not easy to make a choice, we visited all day cares around our places and believe that we finally find the dream place.

Our choice was first for the cheapest options and we thought that those places would be good enough. But we went from disappointment to disappointment. Cheaper for sure and affordable for locals but they had only tiny spaces. We saw 20 kids altogether in a room not bigger than our lounge, little amenities and almost no outside space. The staff were ok but we did notice that the kids were not so calm, probably due to a too loud music.

First time paiting, Julia used the floor as her canvas :)

We then visited a few more internationals day care and here again hard to make the right choice.

Mostly the space was greater and the kids played outside a lot but we noticed a sometimes-not-really-caring staff and definitely not suitable food for children.
We are careful of what our daughter eat, without being too strict but are not ok with jellies and permanent fried food. We also need to make sure that the staff is well trained and motivated enough by her/his job.
She won’t have lunch at day care as we will pick her up before that but most places were offering only sweets for snacks.
We finally visited THE perfect place where they give 3 kind of fruits for snacks, where the teachers and nannies are fully trained and were all kids seemed happy and joyful.

They are encouraging arts and creativity, teaching cooking and dancing, singing songs, gardening and doing circles. They prefer outside plays when it is possible and encourage the kids ti develop their own personality respecting different ideas and different way of thinking. They are also environmentally friendly.

It is important for me to feel good about this place so I can work with a peaceful mind knowing that my daughter will be well looked after and that she will learn daily in a relax environment.
