Dear Steemians and Partiko family,
Partiko has always been, and always will be about the community, and we truly believe that the power always lies within the community (That's why we built Partiko Messaging! Yaay!). As you might have heard over the past few days, there has been a large community on the internet that has been once again targeted by centralization - that community being the adult content community on Tumblr.
Tumblr is a blogging website that allows you to post anything you're interested in. In a way it’s very similar to Reddit and Partiko, because it also allows users to attach tags to their posts. According to statista, Tumblr had over 440 million blogs in October 2018.
Adult content? Let's face it, it's EVERYWHERE. It's inevitable and you can even find it on Steem. In fact the entire online video industry has to thank the adult industry for the tremendous demand it has created through adult content live streaming. It has pushed the boundary of video technology, and it has made it possible for platforms like YouTube and DTube to exist.
Unfortunately people have become too accustomed to using centralized platforms where changes occur constantly and the interests of the community are almost always disregarded. That’s why decentralized platforms are so strongly needed, as it gives power back to the community.
There's NO single party who has the right to abandon any community, the people has.
We were super frustrated to hear that Tumblr was abandoning their users (read the story here), and that's why we as a decentralized community, should stand up and help!
It's time to let Tumblr and websites like it know the power of community!

I have a lot of friends who are sex workers of various types and know lots of people in the sexual wellbeing world.... they’re all going to be affected by this.
I’ve already told them to move across to Steem and to set up Discord servers.
I’ll pass this on to them!!! Great initiative!

I have not been using my tumblr for a longer time. Simply no time to join everywhere. As I understand this is only about porn and childabuse/porn which is also forbidden (officially at Facebook and Twitter). To be honest I do not see any reason to publish it worldwide, besides of the fact child porn is forbidden. There are plenty exceptions so if you are creative you can use them to ad pictures to the story (the story is not forbidden). I just do not understand why female nipples are forbidden and male are not. Sounds like discrimination if you ask me.

Thanks SO much for this. A large number of friends in the polyamorous community are being effected by this, and we're all pretty pissed about it. A fair bunch have set ourselves reminders to specifically delete our tumblrs on Dec. 17th, because screw these guys.
I've been trying to figure out a way to onboard the poly community to dApps, because I think they would find Steem a wonderful thing for many purposes. This is going to make it -much- easier.
If you can figure out an easy conversion for Facebook groups; I'll dance at your weddings, batmitzvas, the defeat of your enemies, you name it. xP

It's a little known fact that p0rn was the driving force behind the growth of the internet, accounting for the vast majority of technological and infrastrural development we presently enjoy.
Given that fact, it would be extremely churlish to fail to provide for those very communities to whom we owe our present global communications facility the censorship resistant platforms necessary for them to continue their good work.

My first reaction was mimmicking Carlos Matos but saying "I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE PARTIKOOOOOOOOO" xDDDDD
But now I am having the doubt that the welcome.partiko.app doesn't provide any clue about what will the tool be doing -from the user point of view, not technically- after clicking the MIGRATE button.

"The only thing I found it is missing is let user know what will happen after clicking the MIGRATE button. Just that. Finally I clicked it and fount it by myself. However I would have liked that there is a text explaining that the tool will create a mirror of the blog itself on the Partiko website."
