There are quite a few reasons 2020 was a terrible year. Aside from Covid and lockdowns, we got bad news about my husband's beloved 18 year old tuxedo cat. Poor Vick has Kidney Disease and probably doesn't have much time on this Earth.
Even though we've had lots of other animals, my husband always said only was was his. He has had Vick since before we met 10 years ago. He's had her since she was a baby. When she does pass it will be hard on him.
That's why I have kept my eye out for another tuxedo kitten. I always figured it would be good to have another cat he can love and be attached to like he is Vick. All our other cats we rescued as adults so he never bonded with them the same way. A new kitten I figured would offer him his next lifelong friend. He and I also agreed we wanted Vick to meet the next generation tuxedo cat.
I found a beautiful little tuxedo kitten at the animal shelter. I'd been looking around for a while and then there she was. My husband fell in love and we rescued her. He named her Cam after Cam Newton his favorite football player.
The other 6 cats welcomed her with very little conflict or issues. I think they are use to new arrivals at this point so they are indifferent to the new girl in town. My husband is bonding with her nice and our 4 year old loves her. At least she's made life a bit more interesting during the dullness of staying home all the time due to Covid.
She's totally adorable! And how cool she fit into the house without muss or fuss.
It's always super hard when you lose "that" cat... we've had many along the way, but my Kramer kitty had been with me since I lived in Texas, many moons ago.
Oh I know. I had a dog for 18 years and I still haven't been able to own another dog. I knew when I met my husband and saw him treat his cat like a child he'd have a hard time if something happened to her. I'm glad we found the new kitten. She's a lot of fun to have.
Awww! Cute kitten! Seven cats seems like a lot to handle, though! Here's hoping your 2021 is a huge improvement over 2020. How are the ducks?
So far 2021 is much better for me. 2020 was like one big suspense movie where I was constantly on edge wondering what terrible thing was around the corner.
One of our rescues had kittens unexpectedly yesterday so we're up to 10. Pretty sure we'll find them new homes. The ducks are doing great. They'll be glad for spring. I'm debating hatching and selling ducklings right now. Its such a fun thing to do but kittens are kind of stressing me out.
So beautiful - thank you for rescuing her
I'm glad we could help her. I think it was a no kill shelter so at least the cats there are safe and will find homes.
